It’s pretty wild how much the Shanahan/Treliving era managed to set the Leafs back in such a short span. An aging blue line, too many injury-prone players, and a prospect pool and pick cupboard that’s been thinned out — it’s honestly remarkable how quickly things turned.

A rebuild isn’t a terrible idea but it’s not the most ideal time to start one. W/o two of our own 1sts in 26, 27 & 28 it makes it difficult to lay a foundation with new core pieces. You try to retool and compete these next few years of 34/88’s prime and hope for the best.

Yeah, I don't care how unpopular it is. Kyle Dubas is and was legit. Not perfect, nobody is - seems like he pulled some greasy shit at the end that led to his exit, keeping him was off the table.
But I hated to see him get his education in Toronto and take it to Pittsburgh. Alex Anthopolous vibes.
There's no changing minds on this one, not worth debating. I thought he was solid and I could at least rationalize the moves he made that didn't work out at the time he made them.

As of this morning, there is now a three-way tied for fifth-worst points percentage in the NHL. Leafs-Panthers tomorrow night could help decide which team finishes bottom five and could also help determine whether the Leafs keep their first round pick.

I think overall you’re drawing the most value out of young roster player + blue chip prospect + 1st round pick.
