@jdatap I kinda think, for one example, if we could make R models in dbt as seamlessly as Python models, it would make a difference since many data/business analysts are being asked to do some engineering. But this is admittedly speculation.

@daranzolin I don't think so. Python got ahead of R well before such tools even existed and if today all of them presented an R integration it would very likely not make an ounce of a difference, sadly.

Lone wolves developing cool stuff doesn't move the needle, no matter how loudly they howl. It's about recognized integration with tools of the trade. There's a million examples of Python + dbt/Dagster/SQLMesh/AirByte/etc, few with R. Posit saw this with sober clarity.
