Today, over 2.4 billion Christians across Alberta and around the world mark Good Friday. It is a solemn day of reflection, sacrifice, and faith. A reminder of the enduring values of grace, humility, and redemption that continue to shape our communities. To all those observing, I wish you a peaceful and meaningful Good Friday.

Even if I take this claim at face value, it still does not say what Jeff seems to think it says. Roughly 178,000 signatures over about 88 days works out to about 2,000 a day. If the pace really doubled for the final month, that gets you to roughly 240,000 to 250,000, not some overwhelming groundswell. Even being generous, you are still nowhere near the other benchmark that matters here. The Forever Canadian petition had only 90 days, not 120, and Elections Alberta still verified 404,293 signatures. The campaign had said it submitted even more than that. By contrast, this petition got 120 days under the new rules and is still bragging about numbers that, even on the most generous reading, do not come close. A referendum will happen on one day, not over 120. The relevant number will not be 178,000 or 250,000. It will be a bare minimum (but likely higher) of something like 1.6 million yes votes, and to satisfy a clear-majority standard. These petition numbers do not point in that direction.

BREAKING - I had a great check in call with Mitch Sylvestre this morning! Since the announcement of meeting the 178,000 signature threshold for an independence referendum signature collection has DOUBLED. Albertans are rushing to sign the Independence Petition because they want to be part of history. Albertans want to be able to tell their future kids and grand kids that they STOOD UP FOR A FREE AND INDEPENDENT ALBERTA!

@menard_ray If Smith ignores the clarity act and puts it on the ballot anyways then it will go to the courts and it will get overturned. And if it has to go to the supreme court it will be tied up in court for years.

@menard_ray Any separation question would have to have its own separate referendum as you can't ask any other question along with a separation question and obscure it. Smith is asking 9 questions in October a separation question can't be asked in October under the clarity act.

@menard_ray Clarity Act of 2000 1(4)(b) laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/c-31.… "such as economic or political arrangements with Canada, that obscure a direct expression of the will of the population of that province on whether the province should cease to be part of Canada."

@menard_ray The separatists question won't be on the referendum ballot either in October. To do so would be a violation of The clarity act of 2000 section 1(4)(b) you can't ask any other questions along with a separation question. So there won't be a separatist question on the ballot.

@menard_ray So really the treasonous separatists only have till April 7 2026 shortly after this indigenous people could have the treasonous petition shut down as indigenous people are seeking an injunction against Bill 14. Then no more separatist petition and your signatures are useless!

@menard_ray Modry is one of the separatist leaders. He stole money from a family member who has dementia in 2025. Modry can't be trusted. He is now ordered to pay back the money by the courts for over $1.2 million dollars! Holmes v Modry, 2025 BCSC 430 (CanLII) canlii.ca/t/kb0nx

@menard_ray policyoptions.irpp.org/2026/02/albert… Alberta’s separation from Canada would be illegal Despite separatist rhetoric and foreign meddling, Canadian constitutional law, Indigenous rights and international law make Alberta independence virtually impossible.

@menard_ray The separatists remain a small fringe group. Only 29% of people would vote to separate and out of that 29% only 8% would definitely vote to leave How pitiful 8% definite support that's it. globalnews.ca/news/11659131/…

Taking Alberta Forward, We Stand With #Canada!
Updated Alberta-Adapted Quote: "There is a point to this craziness." "They want us talking about furries and bathrooms, DEI indoctrination, book bans that started in school libraries and are now extending to public libraries, and Bill 25 — the “no politics or ideology in schools” act that limits flags to only Canada and Alberta, mandates the national anthem weekly, and polices what teachers and school boards can say. So, we don’t realize that they are picking our pockets, closing rural hospitals, underfunding classrooms and teacher pay, gutting health care wait times, and mismanaging our resource wealth while the Heritage Fund remains tiny. The culture wars are a smoke screen because the real fight in Alberta is not left versus right — it’s top versus bottom, and whether we keep squandering our prosperity on endless distractions instead of building a stronger, more secure future for every Albertan.”
