Lots of upset fans today about the Oli extension… I want you to imagine a scenario where the Cardinals have a young core with a manager who has 10 yrs of experience & close to 30 yrs in the same org That would be a VERY good setup for STL. Think long term during this rebuild.

The Cardinals are closing in on a deal with INF Ramón Urías (31) per @jmjones Urías had a down year in 2025 offensively slashing .241/.292/.384 for a .675 OPS and a 88 OPS+ with 11 homers, though for his career he is a .257/.321/.403 hitter for a .723 OPS and a 104 OPS+. In 2025 Urías was good against left handed pitchers posting a .262/.322/.421 slash line. Urías also bounced back defensively posting 5 OAA and 12 DRS after posting -9 OAA and -3 DRS in 2024. This allowed Urías to post a 2.2 bWAR despite a down offensive campaign. Urías has put up 1.5 or more bWAR every season since 2021. Urías brings a consistent player who can play in both a bench or starters role at 2B or 3B and should be the veteran presence the Cardinals were looking for this offseason.

I echo this and I sincerely mean it. Sure, we may finish rock bottom this year but at least we have a vision now—it’s not just “.500 & 3 WC.” Chaim is not just talking the talk but is actually doing to the work, and we get to see prospects (hopefully) we wouldn’t typically see

With Nootbaar likely starting the year on the IL, Chaim Bloom has stated a desire for a right- handed outfielder. The Pirates owner did not want to bring McCutchen back for one final year and instead signed Marcell Ozuna. If Bloom goes that route, letting McCutchen ride out his final season with the Cardinals would be a lot of fun
