@Jimfrombaseball Saw Johnny open up for Bob in Saudi Arabia. The ladies in the act could not get work papers from the Saudi government, so the show was basically Johnny and Bob. A lot of people told me Johnny was the better of the two. He seemed so natural around people.

Dwight Gooden won 24 games when he was 20 years old. You’ll never see it again in your life but I was there and can confirm it was fucking awesome.

@MitchyGallo @mndamico Got smoked in the circle last night. One of those areas that will improve over time. Don’t know if he’s the playmaker you might want at 2C, but he has great finishing skills.

@mndamico I know there's more to goals, that's why I mentioned his two way play. They're in contention for the conference with him as their 2C... #whynothehabs

Kapanen has over 20 goals as a rookie and plays a solid two way game but he’s not legitimate?
Marco D'Amico@mndamico

@MitchyGallo And look, I've said it. One strong summer and this team's window begins to open. But I don't think you can legitimately believe they Stanley Cup contenders just yet without a legitimate 2C and an top-end bottom-six. At least the hard part (assembling the core) is done.

@BobPagesports Larkin has shown he can carry that team for good stretches of time. He can’t play defense or goal, two areas that have hurt them over the past few years.

I don't blame you for writing this, Greg, but I think it's unfair. Dylan's an excellent 2-way player & a U.S. Olympic team leader. He's from Detroit & played at U-M. You can tell everyone, teammates AND opponents, respects him. If this LATEST CHOKE continues, Stevie Y must go!

My latest. Is Dylan Larkin a good captain or not? #RedWings #lgrw @IffyTheDopester @BobPagesports @papatigermike @TBonesPrimeCuts @NickMilanovich @ChrisCasquejo @cardio64 @KenKalDRW @KeithGave @KalineCountry gregeno.substack.com/p/is-dylan-lar…

"Rickey Henderson was the most generous guy I ever played with. Whenever the discussion came around to World Series shares, and what we should give one of the fringe people — whether it was a minor leaguer who came up for a few days or the parking lot attendant — Rickey would shout out, ‘Full share!’ We’d all argue for a while and then Rickey would say: "Fuck that! You can change somebody’s life!" Mike Piazza. "Rickey Henderson doesn't discriminate. Rickey Henderson will go wherever Rickey Henderson can get paid, and the fans can shower Rickey Henderson with all the love Rickey Henderson deserves, for being the best Rickey Henderson that Rickey Henderson can be. Look, I don’t go around saying Rickey does this, Rickey does that. That’s not something that Rickey does." Rickey Henderson. "When you think of me, I would like you to remember that kid from the inner city that played the game with all his heart and never took the game for granted. Thanks everyone here for making my dream come true today. In closing, I would like to say my favourite player, my favourite hero was Mohammad Ali. He said at one time, "I am the greatest". That is something I always wanted to be. And now that the Association has voted me into the Baseball Hall of Fame, my journey as a player is complete. I am now in the class of the greatest players of all time. And at this moment, I am very, very humble." Rickey Henderson. Hall of Fame Induction Speech.

@skroskznik_ @MitchyGallo Glaring issues for sure. Team D has picked it up as late as the scoreboard will tell. But overall season, they have out scored their issues. The PK will be really important for the playoffs.

Dunk away. If other teams had Montreal’s resume, they’d be spoken about differently. Are we going to dump on the Buffalo/TB believers if they get knocked out early? One of Dallas/Minny going home in round one, are we going to dunk in those that have propped up those teams? TB loses its an upset. MTL loses its hitting a wall. Cool. #whynotthehabs
Marco D'Amico@mndamico

@MitchyGallo You're setting yourself up for some insane levels of dunking in April/May if the Habs hit a wall in the playoffs.😅 They're exciting, young and skilled. but we've also seen Hart/Richard/Vezina winners crumble in the playoffs. Window is not 2-3 years away, but...

@Jimfrombaseball If I had to vote between Seaver and Rivera (unanimous vote), I’d vote for Seaver. No disrespect to Rivera. Seaver vs Aaron? Wow, that would be tough.

"Tom Seaver’s the best pitching prospect in the minor leagues. 'Wonder Boy' reminds me of Robin Roberts the way he throws, only he’s faster than Roberts. He knows what he’s doing and has great poise. If he’s not injured, he’s going to be one of the big stars of the game." Jacksonville Mgr. Solly Hemus on Tom Seaver's one and only season in the minors at Jacksonville. "If it had cost Seaver anything, I probably would regret it at some level, but it didn’t really cost him anything. He still got the highest vote, percentage wise, total ever, and he wouldn’t have been unanimous anyway." Paul Hagen. BBWAA member Paul Hagen and two others, turned in blank HOF ballot as a way of protesting the decision made by the HOF Board of Directors, to prohibit Pete Rose from being on ballots because he had been banned from baseball for life, for his involvement in gambling on baseball. Tom Seaver was named on 425 out of 430 ballots for the Baseball Hall of Fame. Three ballots were blank as a protest against Pete Rose being ineligible. One was sent by a writer recovering from surgery, who did not notice Seaver's name. One never voted for any player in their first year of eligibility. Tom Seaver got a higher percentage of the vote for the Baseball HOF than Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron and Walter Johnson.

@MitchyGallo I keep thinking Pittsburgh is going to crash and burn, but somehow they keep surprising. That’s a point for Muse. Bowness turning CBJ around and Nashville clawing their way up after a rough start has caught my attention. Lindy’s team took off after GM change. Wonder why?

@stefen_rosner I remember Persson coming in and adding an element to an already good Islander Power Play. Persson had more talent to work with and scored his points in 66 games. He wasn’t 18 though!

@lori10habs The Coffey era probably had the Oilers averaging 6 goals a game some seasons. Insane amount of offense. Coffey was/still is a beautiful skater. I barely saw Orr - when I did it was after many knee surgeries. Hutson is closer to Orr in the way he thinks the game.

"As long as I could pitch a little, no one cared that I was getting drunk." Don Newcombe was one of the first public figures to talk about addiction - before Betty Ford, before other prominent people. First pitcher to win Rookie of the Year, the Most Valuable Player and the Cy Young Award during his career. First black pitcher to start a World Series game. First pitcher to win the NL MVP AND a Cy Young in the same season in 1956. Don Newcombe outside his home after learning he had been named the winner of the Cy Young. Don Newcombe, alcoholic, was also there for Maury Wills when his life was crumbling, and for Lou Johnson, the heart of the 1965-1966 team who came to the Dodgers for help, and for Bob Welsh, who was having blackouts at 23 years old. Newk just said: “We’ve been waiting for you.” LEGEND!!!!

@BobPagesports 104 seems outlandish. Night games vs day games? I’m not sure that is an impediment. Seeing a pitcher in light and the ball crossing into shadows to get to the plate? I’ll take night games.
