@veermusic @radcatmusic Yeah should be a global setting defaulted to Off. It was most likely added to help plugins that don't support retina/high res. But nearly everything does so it causes more harm than good, e.g. scaling the plugin 2x without using the 2x graphics files.

i just realized my ableton has been making my plugins look blurry and desaturated and i didnt notice this until i downloaded fl studio and looked at them... wtf is HAPPENING WHY IS THIS A THING??????????

@firstdrafthell It's an interesting question there's no definite answer for. At the same time consiusness does not guarantee agency. So conversely, how can we ensure they do not suffer as they do our work for us?

Does AGI infer consciousness, or do people think we can achieve it without it? It seems like a lot of science thinks it's an emerging phenomenon, so I wonder. If so, how would we incentivise it to do its work for us?

We're living in the worst timeline. People (but I suspect a lot of bots) are pushing disinformation, racism, LGBT+ phobia, and other bigotry to serve their agendas. I'm starting to think that creating the internet was a big mistake.

@firstdrafthell I like memory tricks and antrophomizing. The parameters are the topics I'm prepared to argue about. The arguments are the specific statements you make.

One thing that always make me pause for a second or two, is whether or not to use the word "parameter" or "argument". I always get it right, but I always have to think for a while.

I was procrastinating today, so I decided to clean up my desktop and move my stationary computer to the floor. Everything is now connected to a KVM, so I can switch between Windows and macOS with the press of a button. I'm pretty happy with it!

Writing tests for PDFs quickly become messy, and I need to figure out how to get back to my usual Given/When/Then style. I'll probably know more when I've written a couple more tests like this. But... the important thing is that it works!

@firstdrafthell I've used Protonmail for a few years now, recently with Duck mail in front for disposable addresses. Pretty happy! The free tier is OK. Space constrained compared to Ad/data sales-driven services, and Trash must be emptied manually (!), no imap. Have yet to try their app!

I need to move away from Google as a personal email/calendar provider. Thinking about Proton mail. Is it any good?
