The fraud I witnessed while producing this story was so blatant that it is unbelievable no other journalist had already reported on it In Lawrence, Massachusetts, where this fraud was discovered, blue shipping barrels can be seen for sale on every street. It is impossible to miss. These barrels are used to ship food, purchased with EBT and collected from charities, back to the Dominican Republic. In the same city, you can witness Dominican shipping companies picking up food from homes on a daily basis. The only way it would make economic sense to ship food from Lawrence, Massachusetts, to the Dominican Republic, is if the food was obtained for free. The whistleblowers we worked with also informed us that there is housing fraud taking place, where Dominicans, who are receiving housing aid, rent out the same houses that they are getting via government assistance, while they live in the Dominican Republic. If the current administration is serious about stopping fraud, this matter must be immediately investigated.

We have soldiers and their families living in trailers and we will go through their finances with a fine tooth comb. I hate to be a skeptic, but "goodwill ineptitude" could make hasty changes a Trojan Horse, just carrying outcomes that could make things far worse, just for starters: 1. Revising “engaged in the business” rule: If the new definition is even slightly fuzzy (“occasional” sales still count) - Private sales could go illegal overnight. Private sales should be codified as lawful in the rule. 2. Revising the 4473 form (electronic + longer NICS validity): “Digital only” could create the easiest national registry ever. A data breach or future admin. just queries every buyer for the last 6 months. Without language more STRICTLY prohibiting registry (already being BROKEN by the ATF), this could result in de-facto national registry, this time with less administrative burden. 3. Replace indefinite 4473 retention with “only” 20–30 years: This "locks in" 20-30 years. It should be zero. If this goes into effect, we'll NEVER get it shortened. ("It's okay now- why change it?") This should garner GREAT scrutiny for "Why?" during the comment period. I don't mean to be a nay-sayer. I hope that I'm wrong on all counts. If this is done wrong or haphazardly, it could be bad. We'll need to be vigilant. If the ATF still abides by their legal responsibility to post the proposed rules for 90 days for comment, if we spot anything wrong, burdensome, or with unintended consequences, we'll ALL need to make our voices heard during the "proposed rule" comment period.

The ATF has posted summaries of the new regulations, which include: 1) Repeal Biden's pistol brace rule 2) Revising "engaged in the business" rule 3) Revising machine gun definition in response to Cargill decision 4) Remove requirement for FFLs to post info about Youth Handgun Safety Act 5) Revising 4473 form, including allowing electronic forms and increase the time NICS checks remain valid 6) Allow FFLs to keep electronic records 7) Replace indefinite retention of 4473s with definite time periods of 20 or 30 years 8) Allow “Non-Over-the-Counter” firearm sales by FFLs to residents of the same state 9) Repeal interstate NFA transport notice requirement for trips under 365 days, with all others no longer requiring approval before transport 10) Joint NFA registration for married couples 11) Remove NFA CLEO notification 12) Clarify that "common, reasonably necessary activities during travel" are covered by FOPA transportation protection 13) Allow import of dual-use frames, receivers, and barrels 14) Clarify that "training rounds" are not ammunition 15) Eliminate engraving requirement for people making NFA firearms out of existing serialized guns 16) "Clarify that a person receiving assistance in only one functional area (such as financial management) would not, on that basis alone, be considered prohibited" under mental health disqualifier 17) Requiring biological sex on ATF Forms 18) Clarify when a transaction is a straw purchase 19) Formally define "willfully" for firearms violations 20) "Remove the list of former Soviet countries from which ATF currently denies applications to permanently import most firearms and ammunition, retaining only the Russian Federation" atf.gov/rules-and-regu…
