🚨In her address to the 🇺🇳 UN General Assembly’s Third Committee, Special Rapporteur @FranceskAlbs told those delegates who had ignored the crisis in #Gaza "Is it possible that after 42,000 people killed, you cannot empathize with the Palestinians?"

The vote by the Israeli Parliament (Knesset) against @UNRWA this evening is unprecedented and sets a dangerous precedent. It opposes the UN Charter and violates the State of Israel’s obligations under international law.  This is the latest in the ongoing campaign to discredit UNRWA and delegitimize its role towards providing human-development assistance and services to #Palestine Refugees. These bills will only deepen the suffering of Palestinians, especially in #Gaza where people have been going through more than a year of sheer hell. It ⁠will deprive over 650,000 girls & boys there from education, putting at risk an entire generation of children. These bills increase the suffering of the Palestinians & are nothing less than collective punishment. Putting an end to UNRWA & its services will not strip the Palestinians from their refugee status. That status is protected by another UN General Assembly resolution until a fair and lasting solution is found to the plight of the Palestinians. Failing to push back these bills will weaken our common multilateral mechanism established after World War 2. This should be a concern to all.

The message is simple (and yet unheard): JUST DO NOT SEND WEAPONS

Just imagine that not our families are massacred on a daily basis but also at the same time we are not allowed to appear and talk to the world about this? I’ve been fighting and begging to appear on CNN and BBC to talk about my wife who lost 22 of her uncles’ families in north Gaza two days ago, about my aunt’s family who lost 16 people in Jabalia two weeks ago. For the past 11 months since I left Gaza, during which I lost so many relatives, friends, students, and a whole city, I only got to speak three times, two of which were because I had a book coming out. We need to speak at least every week to update this cruel world about what’s happening in Gaza right now. Check my previous post about the Kamal Odwan Hospital. It’s important. I have not been able to talk to my young sister and her three children and her husband for two weeks. I don’t know if they are still breathing! At least let us speak about them. We are speaking!! And we are dying!!!!!!!

Israeli NGOs warn international community it will be complicit if Israel forcibly transfers the population of Northern Gaza Human rights NGOs based in Israel today called on the international community to take action now to prevent Israel from forcibly transferring hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who have remained in the Northern Gaza Strip outside of the area, including by denying entry of essential humanitarian aid and fuel. The Israeli ceasefire coalition, the groups Gisha, B’Tselem, PHR-I and Yesh Din, said that there are alarming signs that the Israeli military is beginning to quietly implement the Generals’ Plan, also referred to as the Eiland Plan, which calls for complete forcible transfer of the civilians of the northern Gaza Strip through tightening the siege on the area and starving the population. The NGOs reiterated the warning that states have an obligation to prevent the crimes of starvation and forcible transfer, and that if the continuation of the “wait and see” approach will enable Israel to liquidate northern Gaza, they will be complicit. All states and relevant international institutions should act now and use all tools at their disposal - legal, diplomatic and economic - to prevent this.
