NEWS: During a hearing in federal court in VA, prosecutors confirmed that the operative indictment in the case against James Comey was never shown to or voted on by the entire grand jury before it was presented in open court. Defense argued that’s a complete bar to prosecution

What “best work” is Speaker Johnson talking about?? For over 50 days, House Republicans just sat on the sidelines as millions of Americans saw their health care premiums skyrocket and millions more struggled to put food on the table as Trump withheld critical SNAP benefits.
Aaron Rupar@atrupar

Mike Johnson: "We've spent the last 6 weeks in our districts, at least the House Republicans did. And many of them will tell you they did some of the best work of their career because they were right there with their constituents."

The Trump administration is trying to sell federal student loans to private companies. This sale would be a giveaway to wealthy insiders at the expense of working-class borrowers and taxpayers. It’s a tremendous mistake, and I’m fighting back.

@TrainsMagazine Two things are both true: 1. There are city pairs and links that would be very effectively served by HSRR. 2. A national HSRR would be ruinously expensive to build and run, and as a system would be virtually empty.

Thinking of switching authenticator apps for my personal stuff. Don’t like the UX of mine anymore. Any recommendations?

@amyspitalnick BAAAALONEY! The term "shylock" happened to be the name of a Venetian Jewish moneylender guilty of usury in a Shakespearean play. The name evolved as modern day slang for anyone practicing usury. Shylock is just another name for a loan shark.🙄

Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський
Emotions have run high today. But it is good that 5 countries met to bring peace closer. Ukraine, the USA, the UK, France and Germany. The sides expressed their views and respectfully received each other’s positions. It’s important that each side was not just a participant but contributed meaningfully. The American side shared its vision. Ukraine and other Europeans presented their inputs. And we hope that it is exactly such joint work that will lead to lasting peace. We are grateful to partners. Ukraine will always act in accordance with its Constitution and we are absolutely sure that our partners in particular the USA will act in line with its strong decisions.

@robbyrussell Honestly, I don't think anything beyond the CLI is needed. But apparently I'm weird and people don't want to log into their bank from a linux terminal. Suckers.

How Did We All Learn This Stuff? It’s hard for me to imagine learning web development today. Not because it’s more complex... but because the complexity is hidden under so many layers of tooling. When I was starting out, we didn’t have frameworks. We had an HTML file... maybe a form... and a Perl script living in a folder with just the right permissions. We wrote data to flat files. We forgot to update the DNS serial number. We broke things... and then figured out how not to break them next time. Source control wasn’t a given. Neither was testing. We deployed with FTP... And later, we SSH’d into a dusty box on a shelf and edited code live. We blocked JavaScript in our browsers... because we were tired of being ambushed by popups. We said no thanks to anything that made the web feel more chaotic. Until we learned how to tame that chaos. We didn’t know what we were doing... But we knew we were learning. And when Ruby on Rails showed up... It clicked. Someone had bundled up the pieces... And said, “Here, this way is faster.” So we said yes. Not because we were trend-chasing... But because we had tasted the before. We knew what it used to take. Still... I miss a good CGI script. I miss the simplicity. The directness. The part where you could build something weird at 2 a.m. and see it live by 2:05. Now? Sometimes I look at a task and think... Does this need a web interface? Or would a shell script do the trick?

50 bus routes eliminated 2 trolleys downgraded to buses 21.5% fare hike 9 PM curfew 20% service reduction on remaining routes This is an emergency. The City of Philadelphia is investing in SEPTA but we need the General Assembly to step up. Pennsylvania House and Senate Democrats are ready to get this done. Harrisburg Republicans must stop playing politics with our livelihoods and make a deal to fully fund mass transportation and keep Pennsylvania’s economy moving forward! phlcouncil.com/savesepta

@CouncilmemberJG This how most new restaurants start out now. The barrier to entry is lower and lets you build up to a full service restaurant. You get the skills and customer base before throwing your life savings into a permanent spot that might not work.

I am disappointed that Drexel University is targeting food trucks. If you went to Drexel, you know that these food trucks have the most delicious and affordable food on campus. I urge Drexel to reverse course. If not, I will explore legislative options to protect these small businesses.
