@lymanstoneky @brownmp @PastorSharp @tapanisimojoki My vicarage circuit in southern IL, at least that’s how it was 20 years ago. Circuit visitor, my supervising pastor, and the vicars communed at circuit meeting. Everyone else either didn’t commune or came after the communion service. Days of being in a state of confession.

Pastoral transition is one of the most dangerous moments in the life of most churches. And the longer and more successful the pastorate, the harder it tends to be when they leave.
Certainly, losing a beloved pastor is a time for sadness. But it shouldn’t be as devastating as it so often is.

Hey, my fellow LCMS folk. If you’re concerned about the overture regarding relations with the AALC, the right thing to do would be to write a letter to the appropriate Floor Committee.
Unfortunately, those were due May 19.

Not too long ago, @becomelutheran jokingly said that the LCMS owes me a paycheck for all the converts I have sent to their churches. Well, they've done precisely the opposite. Despite the fact that I have sent dozens of men to LCMS seminaries, and hundreds (thousands?) Of men and women to LCMS congregations through Just and Sinner, the leadership of the Synod has chosen to continue to misrepresent my church body, and has threatened to break fellowship with us. Some of this has been pointed to me quite directly, including from the president of the LCMS. I urge you to watch my recent discussion on the AALC's YouTube channel about these matters.

The “Rededicate 250” thing seems among the more naked abuses of Christianity for political gain in recent memory.
It combines the superstitious Roman practice of consecrating whole nations with the Big Eva hyperdulia to the state.
It’s red, white, blue and grotesque.

At a federally-funded prayer event on the National Mall today, MAGA radio host Eric Metaxas told thousands of Christians that God spent two centuries waiting to raise up Donald Trump — to build a ballroom.
His verbatim words:
“It’s hard to believe that it would take two centuries for the Lord to raise up a great man to bring that ballroom finally to stand where it needs to stand. It’s extraordinary. We only had to wait two hundred years.”
