Looking at this (chatjimmy.ai) I feel long-term costs of inference is not that relevant once we cycle back to the personal computer age equivalent of AI.

Excited to try 5.4, codex is slowly growing on me. But it’s hard to let go of Claude’s personality and writing.

I recently got named CTO of @nedap, a 96 year old Dutch multi-national. Interesting times to bring over a thousand people along this journey of integrating AI in their jobs, and rethink the entire way we and our customers should operate.

@levelsio I have a feeling they are constantly A/B testing and changing the amount of inference that defines the thinking intensity to fit with other goals.

@chrismadden_ Exactly! This is why it’s so interesting. We are finally seeing some of the true potential and get to rethink those puzzles and even how we organize to tackle them.

@dreetje AI is a systems puzzle, not a feature race.

I have been struggling to define why I am so excited about AI. I always felt drawn to making people more effective at what they do, but AI opens up a whole new ballgame. AI is going to redefine how entire industries work, and we get to be part of figuring out how that will take place. So many puzzles! So many exciting opportunities to make the world more effective. I just hope companies are willing to take a long term perspective. If we just take the short term benefits, we all lose. I hope Europe both wakes up and realizes a change needs to happen, and at the same time doesn’t lose its unique long term perspective of protecting society as a whole. @Nedap we are figuring it out along the way. Lots of energy and exciting ways to ship more and faster!

How about we stop finding new ways to tax stuff and stimulate creating more value?

@justinskycak This is a non issue. Either AI capabilities outpace this problem and it’s an easy fix. Or it goes like it has always gone: If a product makes it far enough for that to matter, the investment to fix it is worth it.

Pure vibe coding is a Ponzi scheme. Eventually, the technical debt comes due, and if you don't understand the foundations, you can't pay it off.
