🚨🚨🚨 NEW PAPER out today in Proc B! @royalsociety Responses of wildlife to climate change are typically quantified at the species level, but are we missing important variation in thermal sensitivity over space (species ranges) and time (seasons)? royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/rs…

@JoshuaPHilll America has attacked numerous countries, does that mean those countries have the right to annihilate the US?

Read Raising Expectations (and Raising Hell)
New York Governor Kathy Hochul says genocide is just the natural way people respond to being attacked. “If Canada someday ever attacked Buffalo, I'm sorry my friends, there would be no Canada the next day. That’s a natural reaction.”

It’s the middle of February in central New York. There’s no snow anywhere. Syracuse hit a record high of 63° today.

There should be room in academia for professors who don't publish, but who know things. Not dead wood, who stopped learning in 1995. I mean: leaves for the summer, reads all summer rather than write, smokes a pipe on the quad and will talk to you about stuff.

@sam_safran @al_auerbach @rbfrncs @MichaelChiappo3 Thanks! I was wondering what that could possibly be. Another note is that coastal/island stuff is hard to spot. My two remaining eastern lifers (non-pelagic) are dovekie and white-crowned pigeon, but they are tough to spot here

@sam_safran This is great! The code runs into an error on line 65 if the user doesn't have an API key. Can I send you my ebird data file instead?

Pretty cool picture posted by Shetland Wildlife (in the UK) of a Greylag Goose, A Pink-footed Goose and a Tundra Bean Goose (from left to right). I love “field guide” views of similar birds.

Not a fan of mandatory graphical abstracts. It would be lovely if all labs had loads of extra funds to pay professional illustrators but I’m finding this burdensome…especially when HQP have left the lab.

@n_a_gilbert Just did it. Felt weird for sure and I was probably less articulate than usual (I like seeing all the faces nodding along). The search chair asked each question in pre-recorded clips and there was 5 minutes to record a response to each

New encounter on the academic job market. Has anyone done one of these "on demand" interviews where you log in, the system asks you questions and it's recorded and the search committee watches later? How was it?
