The word "paani" may come from Sanskrit but it is not a word that is used in West Bengal. We use the term "Jol" which also means water and also comes from Sanskrit. The B'deshis use the word paani.

The word ‘paani’ comes from the Sanskrit word ‘paniya’ which means drinkable. There is no Arabic link to the term. Most of North, West along with parts of East India use ‘paani’ for water. It seems @mayukhrghosh is not only a 3rd class journalist but also a 3rd standard fail.

The definition of manifesto is "a public declaration of policy and aims, especially one issued before an election by a political party or candidate." Ishtehar is advertisement. There is no shortage of futo aantels among my community it seems.

Absolutely incorrect. ঘোষণাপত্র is a Declaration. Not a manifesto. ইস্তাহার has been used as a translation of manifesto from even before the TMC came into power. If you’re to shun all Arabic-Persian derived words in Bangla, you won’t be able to properly finish a sentence.

When I asked her to marry me, I was broke. My bank account was in overdraft.
She still said yes.
Our wedding feast was just vada pav and tea. It was all I could afford.
5 days later, I left for Europe to race. I returned 5 months later in a wheelchair, nearly paralyzed.
She looked after me while expecting our first child.
4 years later, she had the courage to send me back for another round the world race.
8 months later, I returned victorious.
Behind every win is a partner who is rarely seen, like the wind in the sails.

What works in favour of LDF is CM face.
What is going against LDF is the huge anti-incumbency against its Ministers.
If LDF loses in 2026 then it would be finished. That’s when BJP can start to build its own NDA coalition.
Before 2029 I can see some parties joining NDA.
Future is UDF versus NDA.
