We are honored to partner with @gcfriyadh to study how to remove barriers to women’s careers in cybersecurity.
Global Cybersecurity Forum@gcfriyadh

Today we launched a global study with @DukeU that expands our research into women's participation in cybersecurity. Extending across Latin America, it will strengthen global understanding of the obstacles and opportunities for women in a field that faces a 2.8m workforce gap.

JUST IN: The Justice Department has sent a letter to Elon Musk's super PAC, warning that his daily $1m giveaway to registered voters in swing states might violate federal laws, sources tell CNN. It's illegal to incentivize registration with cash/prizes. @evanperez @HBRabinowitz

The FTC report found some companies didn’t delete information when users requested it. This “proves that stronger enforcement is needed, especially from consumers themselves,” EFF’s @_mariotrujillo told The @Guardian. theguardian.com/technology/202…

In another historic development, our sponsored Neurorights bill SB 1223 has officially passed the California Senate with a unanimous vote of 38-0. The state of California joins Chile, Rio Grande do Sul, and Colorado in securing neural data protections!

Techno-nationalism is almost a complete flip from the 2000s US foreign policy attitude. Today, we see rivalry between US and China - both approaching it as a zero-sum game. Is this ideal for innovation? 2/n newamerica.org/oti/reports/th…

Yesterday's @nytimes Morning Briefing was centered around A.I. nationalism - every sovereign state is fighting to be the first in the AI race. I began really hearing about tech nationalism during the COVID vaccine development. 1/n

Apparently, that concern is limited to Congress. The executive branch released the AI EO. The EU just passed the AI Act. All this does is re-emphasises the influential role of industry in the policymaking process. Just look at the members of the new DHS AI Safety Board. 4/4

After a year of deliberation, this is a let down. We know too much to still be "exploring." Schumer is known to be in favour of deferring regulation, "because AI is changing too quickly." nytimes.com/2024/05/15/tec… 3/4

I read the Senate's Roadmap to AI Policy that Schumer released a couple of weeks ago, and my takeaway is that Congress is more interested in protecting the AI industry than Americans from the harms they will face as AI develops. 1/4
