Fun fact: the default password for some of these type of construction signs is ‘DOTS’ and they often don’t change it.

There's a bias in AI discourse where we say certain things were achieved with AI, but they were also achieved with millions of dollars. Like if we gave every traditional scientist tens of millions per year, they'd probably be coming up with plenty of fancy new solutions too.

@evanwch I have a friend who is able to take care for their son this way. It’s not enough to live on their own with the needs he has so they live with the grandparents but he still gets to grow up at home and have someone constantly advocate for him.

Because the alternative is to institutionalize severely disabled people. This keeps them with their family members For example, I know someone who has a young disabled son who has to sleep on a ventilator each night to stay alive and this program allows him to live with his family instead of hours away in a care facility If this program weren’t available, she would have to work 40 hours a week to institutionalize him. Because of it, she is able to provide him 24-7 care instead of a stranger

EXCLUSIVE: California spends $30 billion per year paying 800,000 people to cook, clean, shop, and watch television with family members and others. This "in-home care" program operates mostly on the honor system—and loses $6 to $12 billion a year to fraud. city-journal.org/article/califo…

@gbrl_dick I remember making this argument to a bunch of nerds when that robot puppet bartender video was circulating. Recruiting the bartender to like you is such an underrated life skill that comes with amazing perks that you miss if you treat them like a servant.

@RoKhannaNews Context here ! Maybe the graduation rate was so high because he signed the "No child left behind" act. So basically the rate was artificially inflated and students skipped school and didnt do shit and still graduated lol

At some point, there was a cultural development where we began calling the requirement of skill "gatekeeping", and the appreciation of the skill "elitism", and I vote we stop doing this immediately.

Software used to be gated by roughly 20 million professional developers up until last year. Good ideas still needed engineers, co-founders, time, and months of app work. Now, anyone can build. ~ Wabi CEO Eugenia Kuyda
