This is truly mind-blowing: Norway has gone from near-zero sales of non‑emitting battery electric vehicles to now close to 100% of all new passenger car sales - achieved in about 13 years. It's time we taxed the super-rich fairly and built an affordable country for everyone. It's time we put people and planet, not corporate profit, at the heart of Scottish politics. Let's demand better. Vote Scottish Greens.

A privilege to welcome @Malala to Scotland and to Bute House today. We stand together in calling for gender apartheid to be recognised as a crime under international law. Scotland firmly rejects the institutionalised oppression of women and girls in Afghanistan.

It's only difficult for some of the press and some politicians. The public get it. And see right through your tactics. Antisemitism is unacceptable. Genocide is unacceptable. Calling both of these things out is both completely compatible. And shouldn't be exclusive, either.

Look at what having both the Energy AND the power can do when you're a country of c.5.5-6m people.....and that's Denmark without anywhere NEAR the natural (& renewable) Energy generation capabilities that Scotland possesses. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
Jan Rosenow@janrosenow

Denmark's coal-to-wind transition is one of the most dramatic energy transformations of the past three decades. In 1990, coal provided 90% of Danish electricity. Today it is under 3%. Wind now covers roughly 60% of electricity generation.

Europe is becoming a battleground for civil rights with civil society and the right to peaceful assembly made the enemy. Two prominent pro-Palestine activists in the UK have just been convicted on charges of “breaching police restrictions”. In a joint statement, members of the rights groups, including @hrw , @Amnesty UK, and Greenpeace UK, expressed dismay at the convictions, highlighting a marked escalation in the government's wholesale assault on citizens right to peacefully protest in the UK. Meanwhile, the UK government has closed the Foreign Office unit tracking potential breaches of international law by genocidal Israel in Gaza and more recently Lebanon. This is what has become of the UK and the majority if the States in Europe: a battleground for the protection of fundamental freedoms while the actions of a genocidal state are protected. newarab.com/news/top-uk-ri…

The body of the Lebanese journalist Amal Khalil was found by rescuers after several hours of digging in the rubble after an Israeli strike. She is the fourth journalist to have been killed by Israeli forces in seven weeks. This is why the word ‘journacide’ is now being used.

Narges Mohammadi | نرگس محمدی
On 21 April, we mark the birthday of Narges Mohammadi, who turns 54 today, while spending her 130th day back in prison for her peaceful activism. Born on 21 April 1972, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate has dedicated her life to the fight for democracy, freedom, and women’s rights in Iran. For her commitment, she has been arrested 14 times, prosecuted in 10 cases, and sentenced to a total of 44 years in prison. She has already spent over a decade behind bars and still faces many more years. She has endured at least 161 days in solitary confinement under what is known as “white torture.” She has not been able to hug her children since 2015. Most recently, she was arrested again on 12 December 2025 and remains imprisoned to this day. On her birthday, we honor her courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment to justice and we hope and fight for her freedom everyday, until she is free. Free Narges now.
