Every German learner mispronounces this. And almost nobody corrects them. Words ending in -𝗶𝗴: 𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘵𝘪𝘨. 𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘨. 𝘸𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘵𝘪𝘨. 𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘨. 𝘩𝘶𝘯𝘨𝘳𝘪𝘨. Every beginner pronounces the ending as -ig. Like the English word "big." That is wrong. In Standard German, -ig at the end of a word is pronounced -ich. The soft CH sound. The one from 𝘪𝘤𝘩. 𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘵𝘪𝘨 - RIKH-tikh ✅ 𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘨 - FER-tikh ✅ 𝘸𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘵𝘪𝘨 - VIKH-tikh ✅ Not RIKH-tig. Not FER-tig. One pronunciation rule. Hundreds of German adjectives corrected instantly. Native speakers hear this immediately. Now you know what they hear. 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝘆 🇩🇪
