i just remembered something funny with @fpletz on the past @ccc camp :D we went on a scavenger hunt for free drinks, but accidentally overplayed our cards and lost the police number to the guy who a) was the tent-security and b) was admin on the database for the phone numbers :D

@ProgrammerDude Some people use VNC/RDP for status monitor setups and run the browser instances need for grafana in some cloud. Pi-like ARM boards just aren't powerful enough anymore to handle it locally.

@ProgrammerDude Have a grafana instance in a staging environment with less labels/data where you create your dashboards and deploy the dashboard json to a read-only production grafana instance... ;)

@hanno @iNPUTmice With TURN you can transport the RTP streams using TCP and even TLS instead of UDP. Lots of corporate firewalls just don't allow UDP. For more information, see github.com/jitsi/jitsi-vi… where the Jitsi devs actually recommend TURN in such a scenario.

@iNPUTmice how important is it to support TURN? E.g. for jitsi meet it's widely common to support STUN only and no TURN. I'm looking for a good explanation in which situation one needs just STUN or also TURN.

@arachnist @G33KatWork Well, all dependencies should be included and if not it would be a clear bug. We don't run into such problems with Nix since gnuradio is recompiled if any if one of its dependencies are updated. If it doesn't build, it shouldn't be broken. At least not due to API/ABI changes.

Development using #NixOS might not be for the faint of heart, but the reward of deterministic builds may be too good to ignore it: myme.no/posts/2020-01-…

@SixtDE Eure Hotline ist kaputt und ich kann seit einer Stunde das Auto nicht zurueckgeben obwohl es sich verschlossen hat. Wie lang muss ich noch in der Kaelte stehen?

@42Sec Ja. Wegen deiner Buchung wird mehr Sprit mitgenommen der dann umsonst herumflogen wird. Das Betanken muss abgeschlossen sein bevor Passagiere an Bord dürfen, also wird nachdem das Gate dicht ist auch nichts mehr rausgelassen.

Hm, gilt es eigentlich als klimaschädlich, wenn ich einen Flug buche, ihn dann aber nicht antrete?

@corocoton @nixflower Thanks! Note that the NixOS code is part of the nixpkgs repo. You can also refer to or import specific tests or common config like this: <nixpkgs/nixos/tests/common/x11.nix>. If you want the new Python test runner on master, you can manually use nixos/tests/make-test-python.nix.

@dysinger @ktorek @domenkozar We only maintain a stable release for half a year. And since we tend to change things in the module system in every release, changes are sometimes necessary on upgrades. Enterprise users want no suprises like with new software versions and thus need longer release cycles.

What can we do in 2020 to improve Nix ecosystem?

@grhmc @SusanPotter @johnny_everson Have been using Invidious for a while. Awesome so far but sometimes breaks due to YT API changes. Have to get the Nix expression in shape for nixpkgs. :)
