He basically said why I think people who say "you shouldn't expect much from this" are fucking stupid. It's not hard to make a cohesive plot and story beat for a movie, it's been done for over 100 years. So why are people deflecting discussions on it because "oh it' mario"

It's this mindset that just continues to push the narrative that animation is only seen as "just for kids" and, therefore, devaluing the medium as a powerful form of storytelling.
Not to mention, people with this mindset are the reason why Hollywood is getting lazier and lazier.

SMH at critics bashing the Mario Galaxy movie. Bro its a simple adventure story made for kids, fans, and people wanting an escape with EXTREMELY good visuals and action. This is not Pixar, stop trying to convince everyone it needs to be Pixar. It aint deep. Thats the point.

@SFproductions_1 I defended the first movie's story because it was clearly an attempt to make something generalized from the entire franchise, but when you name you movie after Mario Galaxy and don't use a single aspect of the beloved narrative and story from it, I can't defend that AT ALL

"It's for kids" — so were Peter Pan, Beauty & the Beast, Toy Story, Incredibles, Narnia, The Hobbit, The Little Mermaid, and so on down a very long list of brilliant stories.
"It's like they wanted [good writing]" — I would've settled for something that at least matched the story of the Super Mario Galaxy game, which a lot of this movie's defenders were apparently too dim to notice.
"It's like they were expecting [a brilliant movie]" — see above. Apparently, even matching the story quality of the last Mario movie was too much to ask.
"It was never intended to be [great], I thought it was great" — either it isn't great and that doesn't matter, or it is great and you should argue for its quality. Make up your mind.
"Loads of fan service" — believe it or not, you can have fan service AND a good story.
I'm getting bored of making this point: nobody loses if the writing is better. This hostility to the application of basic creative standards says a lot more about you than it does the critics.

It's mental that people are heavily critiquing The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. It's a kids film, I took my 5yo son to see it today and he LOVED it. It's like they wanted shocking drama, gut wrenching monologues, life lessons, deep metaphors. It's a slightly chubby Italian plumber and his brother in their overalls, on an adventure with a screaming mushroom. That's literally all that matters. It was never intended to be Shawshank Redemption or Ben Hur, was it? I thought it was great, loads of fan service, and introduced a new generation to the amazing Fox McCloud/Star Fox 💙

Actually yes Lubba should've been in the movie because we know that the nihlist Lumalee is her sister Mari and I think giving tribute to this storybook would've been way better than a Star Fox ad

I think the big reason why Fox being in the movie doesn't bother me that much is that if the niche for a character that can transport Peach and Toad around the galaxy needs to be filled, your two best choices are furry Han Solo or Lubba.

My issue is we didn’t NEED Rosalina to be captured. The main plot of the game is her grand stars are being stolen, and that would have been a perfectly good reason to stop bowser/jr like in the games, using them as a source of power to destroy the universe
