@Carter_OW Im genuenly curious what people seek when wanting ow1 back. Aside from a bit of whimsy and nostaliga I am 100% convinced that OW2 is better in almost every way. Every system is still in the game or has been heavily improved. And its arguably the most rewarding service game atm.

i wanted to make a private server for old overwatch like this when ow2 launched bc i saw all the ones for fortnite but i never got myself around to doing it, glad to see people have done it and i am excited to see what this project brings in the near future :D

@Lae_OW + so there shouldn't be any downside to at least seeing if injecting assets is possible (i'm sure it is, probably just requires a ton of work lmao)

@Lae_OW i'd be curious to know if anybody who's worked on the datatool project has tried working on something to inject assets back into the game. thinking about it now, somebody should take a crack at that for this project. no risk of getting an account banned from an offline server +

@Lae_OW unfortunate that (to my knowledge) there weren't any notable attempts at an overwatch private server or reverse engineering over the past few years beyond stuff like datatool. if only there was a modded ow1 private server...

@Lae_OW out of curiosity, how do you think would you do it? to me, adding new assets seems more straightforward than coding abilities since people have already figured out how to extract them from the game

@evenstensberg @DavidBaszucki @Shedletsky game engine is coded in C++, i believe the site uses (or used to use) ASP, games in roblox are coded in Luau, their fork of Lua (some use roblox-ts which compiles to luau)

If there were a way to make this not scam-city, it would be an incredibly fun minigame to layer on top of Roblox, for a certain type of person.
