After four months, I’m sorry to share @GamesDoneQuick has decided to stop supporting Splits.io, citing financial reasons. We will continue with our original shutdown plans, with a new last day of March 31, 2025.

@djbystedt I agree emotionally. But this was an experiment in the literal sense, not a beta. Being public about experiments can invalidate their results. Still, we knew people wanted it. Heck we wanted it for ourselves, as users. That’s why we built it. The experiment was a sanity check.

@glcls Having now finished the thread I see you came to that conclusion yourself. 😅 If Twitch was more transparent with the community about features in beta, then the community could provide feedback.

Early at Twitch, we thought we’d be heroes for adding chat history on load. So you’d land on a channel and you’d already see recent chat messages, instead of a big white box as new ones come in. Everyone was asking for it. It was simple to build. Easy win, we thought. Nope.

When all your Slack channels are named with dashes between the words and someone makes everything terrible by creating a new one with an underscore between the words.

stage 6 ok but your users clearly don’t read labels because people are putting first names and usernames and pet names in the email field and one person even put their phone number into it and then they COMPLAINED to you about it …you write code to check it has “@“ and “.”

stage 5 but then you read that one comment on stackoverflow that says well actually the best way to validate an email address is to send it a dang email and see if the user gets it. you remove all text validation and accept this new modern inclusive minimalist approach

i'll save you a tirade but the rest of the software+support experience is equally as fragmented and confusing, filled with googling through old reddit posts and sacrificing half the features of your hardware to buggy software so you can use the other half kinda how you wanted.
