@SkiyeBlueFox @SerahTheLioness The symptom that is described by acropalypse, is that cropped information is still available. This means if you cut away sensitive information from a photo or screenshot, with a trick people can still look at it. Greenshot does not have this issue.

@EChyanne Look in the preferences, it is specified in the output settings. Usually it's on your desktop.

I just found another Microsoft Store app entry for Greenshot where "Brian Studio" is selling apps which seem from others. He/they get the money, but over our backs as it generates work on our side, we get nothing. Please do not support this person/app: apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/s…

Unfortunately the part in the policy about open source, which should be rewritten so it would help us, was completely removed: learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/… That is making things really hard, the Greenshot App in the store which is NOT from us, is still making money over our backs. 😢

I hope this doesn't prevent us from selling Greenshot as App in the future, as we place a lot of time in it which is only possible if we get something in return.

64 days ago I reported an issue to @SlackHQ that Slack, when using window sharing (paid feat) on windows, is resizing the @greenshot_tool capture window. This causes issues for both side users. I took me, a #FOSS dev, weeks to find, but they still didn't find it, even with hints.

While I'm working on 2 show stopper bugs with Greenshot vs Windows 11 & vs Slack, @jairbubbles is doing great work 🥰 on a PR adding Emoji support to Greenshot via ImageSharp. A special guest just joined the PR, no other than @James_M_South himself 🤩 #OSS github.com/greenshot/gree…

@NilsAndreasT You are probably a paid @SlackHQ user and use their "Window sharing" feature. There is a bug in Slack which, for whatever reason, resizes (!!) the Greenshot capture window. @greenshot_tool I have tried to file a bug report, but JIRA does not allow me to log in. Same with support question. Here is what happens when I start Greenshot (picture of bug). I'd explain if I could :-)

@greenshot_tool is great for screenshots and notes in pics. I love it for all the extras you can do too, like wrapping text in boxes, pointing arrows, and my favorite, inverting from dark to light background (better for those presentations 😉). You can even obfuscate text.

What does a SOC Analyst do anyway?! I've been getting a ton of questions asking what it's like to work in a SOC, my experience, and any information to give them insight into the world that is the SOC Analyst role. I thought it would be the perfect thing to talk about today!

@Candace__Hughes @Techn392 We are looking at the possibilities to make reversing an obfuscation impossible, but for now it's certainly important that people need to be aware of (independent of Greenshot) that obfuscation can be reversed. If things are sensitive a black box is always the best option. 👍

@Techn392 @greenshot_tool I've heard of that. I don't use the obfuscation tool professionally. If something needs to be redacted, it's getting the big, bold, black boxes 😆

Things like this make us sad! We understand that not everybody likes our software or that it sometimes has issues. We spent a lot of free time on our product, which is in fact free, so why do this without explaining what bothers you? 😢 #FOSS

@Patrick87724454 In theory it would reach out for an update check every x (look in settings) days. It will only download an XML with the latest version. There is a known bug, fixed with version 1.3, in certain setups the check is very often. If it happens a lot, set update check to 0.

@devuxer Please tell your IT that is not how code signing works! Our certificate from 2017 expired, so we can not sign a NEW exe. It's not like a SSL cert (way more expensive), otherwise no one could release 1 week before expiring. Windows shows signature is OK if you close that window.

@greenshot_tool Thanks for your speedy reply. The 1.2 certificate is not just old, it expired in August 2017. This is why IT rejected it. Do you have an approximate release date for 1.3 (or patch for 1.2)? Happy to donate.

@greenshot_tool Huge fan of Greenshot, but IT at work is telling me that it does not have a valid digital signature. If this is correct, would this be something you could remedy quickly? Thanks in advance!

@arudlang The biggest issue with free & open source, we didn't have funding for that kind of hardware. This makes it hard to support that kind of setup. Prices haves dropped, and make it more reasonable to be able to support this hardware. Check out 1.3, but Windows & DPI is not easy.

@greenshot_tool Loved your tool for years but had to find an alternative because despite YEARS of waiting you still don't work for those of us with 4K displays. My new work laptop is 4K screen, my aux monitors are still 1080p, doesn't scale when I drag editor between displays :(
