That Peter Thiel—The godfather of the Dark Enlightenment! A co-founder of the malevolent surveillance company Palantir! A radical Catholic weirdo in league with Jeffrey Epstein!—feels the need to look for the Antichrist anywhere but his own bathroom mirror speaks to his Ivanka-esque lack of self-awareness. But I’ll give the guy this much: he sure got the symbolism right. Where did Thiel choose to deliver his lecture? Rome. And on what day? The Ides of March—the 2070th anniversary of the assassination of Julius Caesar. Full disclosure: I don’t really give a damn what Thiel thinks about the Antichrist. Indeed, when I die and go to hell, the first thing Satan will do, after handing me a lukewarm cup of hazelnut coffee, is force me to watch footage of Peter Thiel mansplaining John of Patmos for all eternity.
