Tomorrow is January 6th.
My candidate lost this election.
But I’m not currently packing up my tactical gear and bear spray.
I’m not throwing a pop-up gallows kit, a California king sized Kamala flag and a taser into a duffle bag.
I don’t have any plans to head to the Capitol with a bunch of my fellow Harris voting buddies so that we can beat up the officers in charge of protecting that building in the hope that we’ll stop the certification of an election we lost.
I’m not doing any of that shit, because I’m not an idiot, I’m not an asshole, and I’m not in a motherfucking cult.

…Did JD really imply that DONALD TRUMP has more common sense than people with Doctorate degrees who are literal EXPERTS in economics and finance? #VPDebate2024

That’s not how abortion works, Donald.
This is the man who wants to control your health care access and he never fails to lie about abortion and reproductive health care. Almost like he’s seriously unqualified. #Debate2024

@RutgersAltRoute Feedback should be given in a meaningful way that enables the student to grow. For example, rather than positive and negative, frame it in a way that shows opportunities for growth and allow them to reflect and explore. #GrowthMindset #TeacherEd
English

Feedback is a compass for improvement and not all feedback is created equally. For Q4 share your content area and consider your best practices and those you would like to try #TeacherEd #GrowthMindset

English

@ioannasoprano @RutgersAltRoute Yes I agree! This is meaningful because without a safe environment students fear the chance to take risks and learn from those mistakes. #GrowthMindset #TeacherEd
English

@RutgersAltRoute A2 Foster a safe environment with kindness, high expectations, positive attitude, encouraging risk taking and making mistakes; emphasize process, self-reliance, and self-assessment; treat all students as equally intelligent and capable; offer detailed, process-oriented feedback.
English

For Q2, consider the expectations you communicate to students (verbal and nonverbal) through your classroom climate, course material & response opportunities #TeacherEd #GrowthMindset
Tip: Be specific to your content & connect with others using a # like #ArtsEd #litchat #scichat

English

@RutgersAltRoute Mindset is everything, and we need to teach children to be open to facing challenges and build persistence and a willingness to learn. Without it, children won’t know that making mistakes is okay and is how we learn most of the time. #GrowthMindset #TeacherEd
English

Teachers have the power to influence the mindset of students.
As you answer #TeacherEd #GrowthMindset Question 1, consider your own experience, readings, and what Carol Dweck refers to as the power of “yet” (youtu.be/hiiEeMN7vbQ?si…)

@ioannasoprano @RutgersAltRoute I love incorporating my students interests into the lesson. It helps create a sense of belonging as well as providing the positive reinforcement will keep them wanting to participate more. #TeacherEd
English

@RutgersAltRoute Q3 Pt1 Besides universal design and positive reinforcement, I have found that tapping into what brings joy to the students is the most effective way to get students interested in the content and learning. In one of my LDS classes, the best way is through movement.#TeacherEd #SpEd
English

For Q3 be specific content area & how you support student success, for example, your classroom environment, assignments, and assessments #TeacherEd #SpecialEd
Tip: To connect with our teachers in your subject area, use the # for your content area, i.e #arted #mathchat #scichat

@jessktran @RutgersAltRoute Movement breaks are so important, as well as providing a variety of sensory experiences for them to explore to find out which one works best for them. #TeacherEd
English

@RutgersAltRoute A2: Providing space in the classroom with less distractions, frequent (movement) breaks, multisensory learning, fidget toys, weighted blankets/lap pads, slant boards. #TeacherEd #SpecialEd
English

Dr. Jonas Bromberg & teacher Jon Weinberger discuss classroom strategies to support students with ADHD (youtube.com/watch?v=Dd62-e…) like providing fidget tools and offering checklists.
For Question 2 (Q2) consider what's worked or ideas you want to try #TeacherEd #SpecialEd

YouTube
English

@RutgersAltRoute Something that has worked with my younger students with diverse needs is providing a schedule that includes breaks for them. The day is incredibly long and this definitely aids in regulating them. #TeacherEd #SpecialEd
English

@Principal_H @RutgersAltRoute I love this! So often children’s voices are silenced, but the idea to give them autonomy of their education is something all schools should implement. #TeacherEd #SpecialEd
English

@RutgersAltRoute A4 You need to build up their confidence and teach them to advocate for themselves.
Make sure they are invited to and have input in IEP meetings etc.
(how much they can participate will depend on the cognitive level of the student , but you get the idea)
#TeacherEd #SpecialEd
English

Teachers play a role in helping students learn and practice self-awareness skills and communicate their understanding.
For Q4 think about what you’ve done or ideas you’d like to implement to help students be self-advocates, agents of their own success #TeacherEd #SpecialEd

English

@bananasbri @RutgersAltRoute As someone who over-analyzes I always can think I can do something more as well so I can relate. I think the largest challenge I’ve had is wanting to do more or recommend things but due to budget constraints/things out of my control it can be tough. #TeacherEd
English

@RutgersAltRoute A1: The challenge I have encountered while creating an inclusive classroom is ensuring I am giving my students the best opportunities. I fear that I am doing too little and always looking for ways to enhance my classroom to make it fit for everyone. #TeacherED #SpecialED
English

For Question 1 (Q1), reflect on your experience and current practices for creating an inclusive learning environment for students with learning disabilities. #TeacherEd #SpecialEd
