SYMBOL OF WESTERN CIVILISATION The Parthenon is a temple that was dedicated to the Goddess Athena, patron of Athens. Built in the 5th century BC. It is one of the most recognisable monuments in the world, and, given Athens' links with democracy, a symbol of that too. 🗳️🗳️

WHAT IS THE ACROPOLIS OF ATHENS? It is a natural raised area in the city of Athens (~150 metres above sea level). Some of the most famous classical ruins in the world are here, including the 'Parthenon'. 🏛️
