WHERE IS HUMANITY? Two little children were playing innocently in a compound. One of them was just 1 year and 6 months old—baby Mary Wanjiru. The other child was a relative. In addition, other scholars suggest that the killer should also repent if there was negligence on his part, as innocent animal are not to be killed unjustly. For specific guidance, prominent scholars like Ibn Qudaamah in Al-Mughni: Volume 9, Pages 95-101, among others, emphasise paying compensation based on the animal's value to the owner, or donating the value in charity to a community project, the poor or the needy, if the owner is not known to you. Indeed, Allah is the All-Knowing.
