We are A’ja Wilson’s jersey-number days away from the start of the WNBA’s 2026 regular season. With the season approaching, it’s worth revisiting the last two years from the league’s only four-time MVP ⤵️ 2024:
This season will always be remembered as one of the greatest regular seasons ever recorded. Wilson averaged (26.9) points, (11.8) rebounds, (1.8) steals, and (2.6) blocks, all career highs, while becoming the first player in WNBA history to reach 1,000 points in a single season. She also set the record for most rebounds in a single season by a WNBA player. Wilson led the league in points and blocks, ranked second in rebounds, and fourth in steals, producing one of the most dominant two-way seasons the league has seen. 2025:
Following a historic campaign that set an extremely high bar, Wilson returned with another elite season, averaging (23.4) points, (10.2) rebounds, (3.1) assists, and (2.3) blocks. The slight drop in production can largely be tied to playing three fewer minutes per game and taking three fewer shot attempts compared with the 2024 season. Late in the year, she added another milestone to her résumé by becoming the first player in WNBA history to record a 30-point, 20-rebound game. And that only covers the regular season. In the postseason, Wilson elevated her play again, averaging (26.8) points, (10.0) rebounds, (3.3) assists, (2.1) steals, and (2.5) blocks. After setting the league’s single-season scoring record in 2024, she followed it up by claiming the single-postseason scoring record as well. Wilson produced four 30-point performances in the final six games, leading her team to a third championship. Heading into 2026, Wilson stands as the league’s best player and an early favorite to capture a fifth MVP award. ✨
