When the PBAT administration commenced in 2023, President particularly directed the Minister of State (Gas) and leadership NNPCL to prioritise the funding and ensure work on the project does not stop. Mele Kyari led NNPCL and the Minister were giving frequent updates (Mele particularly assured the public that funding didn't stop). As at close of last year, the current NNPCL leadership held that progress report says project is at around 80% completion and reiterated that the project will be activated for export in this year (2026). As at Q1 of 2026, it is already at 90% competition stage.
