Some of my top slides from the @RCOT_MH conference in London = why primary care? Why not 3rd sector/ heart of the community?…positive external project evaluation… NHS OT report in addition to this..several OT reflections & recommendations. Key message: Occupational Therapists can significantly improve patient outcomes when working with them earlier and within the community. Next steps = look at improving lives, saving money approach. OT’s are key leaders in service developments and QI projects. We have the skills to make meaningful change at all levels. Another post about the difference between thinking like an "expert" & an "explorer". An expert starts from a place of knowing a lot about the topic ("expertise"). That leads to conviction about the right thing to do, confirmation & desirability bias & validation of the current way of thinking. An explorer starts from a place of humility (appreciating there is a lot they don't know). This leads to doubt, curiosity & a stronger likelihood of discovery & breakthrough thinking.
