The current price tag for this new (smaller) Science Centre is over $1 Billion - and surely will go up. As a reminder, the previous Science Centre needed just $24-$32 Million in "critical" repairs, and approximately $200M over the next couple of decades in normal maintenance.

Kathleen Wynne made the very same argument - that money from selling off shares in the profitable Hydro One, which paid dividends, would go towards building transit. The voters hated it and voted for Ford instead. Canada is rich enough we do not need to sell airports, any more than Ontario needed to sell Highway 407.

Envious of how much room and sanity there is to the municipal registration process now. This was the unforgettable moment Doug Ford registering to replace his ailing brother in the race for mayor at the very last minute. I'm squeezed in there over Ford's left shoulder.

Busy at Toronto city hall this morning. Long lineup of people registering to run for mayor, councillor or school board trustee. No signs Mayor Chow will register today. Beaches-East York Brad Bradford is planning to file his paperwork soon

Just five grocery companies account for over 75% of all food sales in Canada. This is not "free or fair competition." What we do have is consumer gouging — and now the prospect of predatory, surveillance-based pricing — in no small part because of a clear lack of competition.
Colin D'Mello | Global News@ColinDMello

Premier Ford says “no” to shutting down surveillance pricing. “No, I believe in capitalist society, free market. The market dictates, if ABC grocery store wants to compete against the other one, that's that's what the true driver is, free and fair competition and let the market dictate” #onpoli

Actually, the money has gone to cancelling wind power contracts, and political ads, and a parking garage for a private spa operator, and unnecessarily relocating the Science Centre, and accelerating the expansion of beer sales, and maybe even to a fantasy tunnel under the 401…

The gas in those pumps was refined weeks ago, from oil extracted months ago, none of which came through the Straits of Hormuz. So why does it cost 15c more per litre than it did LAST Friday? I ask why, in @TorontoStar: thestar.com/business/opini…. #canlab /2

The Conservatives blame food prices on the industrial carbon tax, while Liberals say it's due to climate change. But will either major party mention the monopolies?

@JoshMatlow Let's hope that better maintenance of our streets means that trees and trees pits can be looked after in a timely manner. Nine months is a bit much. If we wanted these weeds to be maintained this summer, we had to put the 311 request in last September. #TOpoli @@311Toronto

Thank you so much to city council for supporting my initiative, “Toward a beautiful city”. We can better design and maintain our streets, parks, public squares and civic buildings and build the city we want to live in.
