Former President Obama in July 2020:
“For too long, gerrymandering has contributed to stalled progress and warped our representative government.”

Congratulations, Virginia! Republicans are trying to tilt the midterm elections in their favor, but they haven’t done it yet. Thanks for showing us what it looks like to stand up for our democracy and fight back.

@dsgnr4hire @drodvik52 @FrankLuntz So it’s what about ism for republicans and tit for tat when you do it? It’s like you try to be as hard to have a real talk with as possible. Following Illinois in 2021 Texas did a tit for tat. If a red state redistricts in response to VA I assume you will see it as tit for tat?
English

@jdeitz72 @drodvik52 @FrankLuntz Hahaha that's called 'tit for tat' or 'fight fire with fire' completely different from 'whataboutism' 😅
English

@joyncassie @drodvik52 @FrankLuntz I do agree incumbents being in anyway associated with the process muddies the waters. Unfortunately I think most people see it as us vs them and aren’t capable of short term detriment in their own party for the benefit of the country. Both on policy and processes
English

@jdeitz72 @drodvik52 @FrankLuntz Me too, with the math. I like that. I'd also like see some contiguity and mile range rules, so incumbents can't draw funky lines to protect their own seats, and more representatives have to consider more than their own party's interests.
English

@joyncassie @drodvik52 @FrankLuntz I would say redistrict every 10-20 years and do independent commissions to draw the lines such that you are within idk 3% parity of the last general vote? I’m a math guy so that makes sense to me but not sure from a like feasibility standpoint
English

@jdeitz72 @drodvik52 @FrankLuntz Sure there are plenty of ways to define it. There is a lot of research done on differing ways. This is your opportunity to define it how you want.
English

@joyncassie @drodvik52 @FrankLuntz Because no one agrees on what it even means. Define fair in a situation where the split is not exactly 100%. I am not in favor of Texas or va doing it simply pointing out that we no longer agree on what basic words mean and standards to reach them. See man vs woman
English

@jdeitz72 @drodvik52 @FrankLuntz So why don't republicans bring their own anti-gerrymandering vote to the floor today?
English

@dsgnr4hire @drodvik52 @FrankLuntz So then you are equally at fault? We shouldn’t gerrymander “but what about republicans in Texas” fucking retards.
English

@jdeitz72 @drodvik52 @FrankLuntz As usual, when cornered in a no-win situation, just invoke 'whataboutism' 🤣
English

@drodvik52 @FrankLuntz Just like you protect women’s rights then allow trans athletes ? Naming it something doesn’t make it so. The save act protects elections how dare you not support it. it saves election integrity cuz that’s what we say it does. There’s no way congress could lie about the bill
English

@Brian_Chovanec @FrankLuntz lol do what we want and if you don’t we will do more gerrymandering because Illinois and Massachusetts haven’t been gerrymandered for last 6 years. Clowns this will turn violent eventually
English

@FrankLuntz This is true and not inconsistent with his stance on Virginia.
1- Ban gerrymandering nationally.
2- until 1 happens, don’t unilaterally disarm.
Dems are proposing one. Republicans refuse to cooperate, therefore, Dems (and Obama) proceed with two.

This ma ordered a new fridge for $1000 from Lowe’s. When it was delivered, the delivery men accidentally dented the right stainless steel panel on the door.
The fridge still works great, but there are three unsightly dents. He reached out to Lowe’s and they took $500 off of the total price, so he ended up getting it for only $500.
Would you have taken that deal and saved $500 or would you have taken the fridge back and had the give you a new one that was not damaged?
