@vaggelisdrak @rednafi You'd expect that wouldn't you... But the numbers I've seen... Even if the compute were available, the added CPU and memory needed to coordinate it all and the added pressure on databases is surfacing issues in the underlying infrastructure.
Can only scale MySQL only so far...

@rednafi True but shouldn’t they be able to handle that traffic?

@kdaigle Will you please give GitHub back to the previous owners. You suck at your job.

Wanted to provide more clarity about this.
Yesterday, we had a regression in merge queue behavior where, in some cases, squash or rebase commits were generated from the wrong base state, making earlier changes appear reverted in branch history. 2,804 pull requests out of over 4M merged on April 23 (roughly 0.07%) were affected. We fixed the issue, we've contacted every impacted customer, and we're expanding our automated test coverage for merge queue operations. The team will be updating the status page with RCA details as well.

This GitHub incident is insane. Merge queue commits have been reverting previously merged commits at random. This not only breaks the mental contract teams have with Git in general, but is subtle enough to be really hard to unravel after the fact. githubstatus.com/incidents/zsg1…

I've always had this association with guitar hero when viewing really convoluted git histories. And today I turned that into reality :).
Introducing: gh guitar-hero!
Hard-fast is really only for the best typists I suppose ;).

With the current political climate there has quite a bit of buzz around #DataResidency and #DataSovereignty. One of the gaps in @github with Data Residency, was that all Copilot data could still leave the region. This is now a thing of the past:

GitHub Copilot will start training on your data. You've probably seen this on your LinkedIn timeline the past few days. Probably with alarming notes that this can't be controlled and that there is no policy for it.
Let's set some things straight:

Officially introducing the new Azdo Marketplace project. *The* way to publish your Azure DevOps Extensions to the marketplace.
Now available for #GitHub Actions and #Azure Pipelines.

Last month I added a few more GitHub Actions to the Marketplace and found that it was easy to forget to update my examples as the Action evolved.
So, now I validate the examples against the action.yaml with my own action: GitHub Actions Example Checker.

One more crazy @GitHub Actions project! Another for Actions authors.
This one validates that the examples you use in your docs and action.yml match the implementation.
If you delete or rename (or change the accepted values) inputs, this will warn you.

Versioning of #GitHub Actions still felt like black magic at certain times, especially with the introduction of Immutable Releases, which does not allow much room for mistakes.
I decided to automate the process of validating all of this: jessehouwing.net/github-actions…

Do you maintain an Azure DevOps Extension? Then I need your help!
The past few days I've completely refactored the Azure DevOps Extension Tasks. They're now available for both GitHub Actions as well as Azure Pipelines and cleaned up and PREVIEW!

@mickey_gousset @octopascoal Thanks Mickey! Hope it helps the whole community clean up some of the mess ;).

@ibood what's going on with the Android app. Icon broken (square instead of material rounded), labels missing, template text showing...
But... DARK MODE 🥳

Recently someone brought to my attention that you pin your actions, Security Advisories for GitHub Actions do not show up in the Dependency Graph. I set about a solution to solve that problem.

@gabriel__xyz your git un wrapped is cool! I only think that the most used language stats are incorrect. HTML can't be mine.
I'd expect PowerShell or javascript/typescript.

@Maerklin I'm looking for a small 2 axel locomotive that would be the closest to this one. It's a small steam loc that now rides in the Efteling with a small coal (now battery) tender behind it.

@37signals om wondering why your podcast is sped up by 10-20% by default.
It always feels rushed.
I understand some people prefer to listen at high speed. But they can set a default speed in their podcast player.

@iScienceLuvr People pay way less on Windows and Android.
There is a much broader set of devices that must be supported.
Pirating is much easier on Windows and Android.

I unfortunately don't know much about mobile app and desktop software dev so I'm genuinely asking:
WHY DO ALL COMPANIES RELEASE iOS/macOS PRODUCTS FIRST/ONLY???
How hard is it to release Android and Windows versions of your product?
Recent example is the Sora app, which is only released for iOS, with Android coming later. This means Android users like myself cannot do Cameos, and are missing out on the internet moment.
I've seen many other products that are iOS/macOS-only and it's really frustrating that I cannot use them at all.
Why would you purposefully cut out like half of the population who can use your software?! How hard is it to take a little bit of extra time to add Android/Windows support to your products?
I thought companies like OpenAI have the best coding agents and tools... why don't they just use them to port over their software to Android and Windows?!
Seriously, what is the limiting factor here, I must know.
