@pati_marins64 Suggestion: review all events assuming someone in the Pentagon wants this to end with Israel nuking Iran. Do we arrive here? And if you were the supreme leader of Iran, might you be greenlighting building nukes by now? Provocation?

The Israeli Strike Near Iran’s Reactor is an Ominous Signal The US and Israel find themselves cornered with dwindling options and growing desperation. This is evident in their attacks on Iran’s electrical grid and their calculated attempt to shift the Overton Window toward the nuclear threshold. The statement by Trump advisor David Sacks, suggesting Israel could escalate the conflict with nuclear options, coincides with a missile strike landing just 350 meters from the Bushehr reactor. This isn’t just a warning; it’s a veiled threat. It’s a trial balloon designed to gauge the global reaction to such a catastrophic possibility. A direct hit on an Iranian reactor would inevitably force Iran to retaliate against Dimona, leading us into a spiral of nuclear escalation, but what if Dimona be empty? As global opinion is being tested, this "window" is being meticulously shifted and calibrated. Currently, US-Israeli options, beyond aerial bombardment, include sector-specific ground operations. But what if these operations end in disaster? Even a NATO intervention might change nothing. In Libya, European NATO forces depleted their ammunition in about 10 days during a low-intensity conflict. Today, Rheinmetall claims European stockpiles are bone-dry. While I usually take Rheinmetall’s claims with a grain of salt, this time it actually makes sense. We are looking at a scenario of severe ammunition shortages against a heavily entrenched and well-armed Iran. Any landing operation would be a bloodbath. I believe that, faced with mounting internal and external failures, the US and Israel will gradually push the Overton Window to a choice between total defeat or the use of tactical nuclear weapons, in the event of a catastrophic failure of ground operations. Tactical nuclear weapons are strictly forbidden for use, yet their radiation dissipates within weeks in the current environment. Even so, it would constitute a grave war crime. I do not believe the U.S. would embark on such a path, but I cannot say the same for Israel. Ending the war with Iran still possessing enriched uranium would be equivalent to admitting that Netanyahu, instead of increasing his people's security, did the exact opposite. The internal pressure would be immense. If nothing goes as planned and the death toll rises, I feel this window can shift much faster.

@KevorkAlmassian Ok you say the US theory is that removing moderates “softens the system”. What if they aren’t that foolish, and know that what happened after they killed Khamaenei will reinforced by killing Larijani? What does that indicate about their intentions?

@zerohedge Where I live, petrol goes through a weekly cycle from a low of ~$A1.60 per L to ~$2.20. It’s now stuck on ~$A2.35 and panic buying has started. This will affect farmers and tourism badly.

@PaulineHansonOz Australia produces a lot of oil and gas. But it has only 2 refineries. It exports high quality oil product and imports lower quality oil product. And Albo supported the war on Iran. Bad planning.

Treasurer Jim Chalmers wants to blame the war in Iran for everything, including the problems he caused. The fact is inflation was already out of control before overseas conflicts erupted. Now it's just going to get worse and Labor has left us backed into a corner. Australia should be the richest, self-reliant country in the world. Instead we're facing fuel rationing, mass migration, higher interest rates and a collapse in our way of life. It's time for change!

@A_M_R_M1 When facts and opinions are mixed together, the comments can lose objectivity. The US sending ground troops to Iran could win the war, or could be a complete disaster. Explain based on facts which result you believe is more likely.

🚨 The balance of power in the Strait of Hormuz is shifting dramatically. Iran, which once believed it controlled this vital waterway with its fast boats, now faces a shocking reality. The arrival of the amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli at the head of a Marine Expeditionary Unit, including the 31st Reconnaissance Battalion, represents an unprecedented nightmare for the Iranian regime. This elite force of approximately 2,500 troops is moving at maximum speed toward the region, signaling Washington’s shift from airstrikes to a potential “boots on the ground” option. Known as “Force 911,” these units are not ordinary reinforcements—they are self-contained, integrated forces combining ground combat elements with artillery, amphibious vehicles, fighter jets like F-35s, and attack helicopters, effectively turning the ship into a miniature aircraft carrier operating in the heart of the Strait. Primary objective: regain control over the Strait of Hormuz from the Revolutionary Guard, which has disrupted global shipping. The number of transiting ships dropped to just 77 in early March, compared to over 1,000 in the previous year. With this deployment, all military options are on the table: from rapid raids on islands used by the Guard as missile and drone launch points, to full control of strategic sites like Kharg Island, Iran’s economic lifeline and source of roughly 90% of its oil exports. Missions may also include highly sensitive tasks, such as securing enriched uranium stocks to prevent any “dirty bomb” scenario, or collaborating with the CIA and Mossad to engage opposition groups and build an internal resistance movement to overthrow the regime. This marks a new phase that goes beyond traditional deterrence, putting Tehran’s influence and the regime’s existence at stake. These special forces could fundamentally shift the balance of power internally and potentially end the regime’s dominance forever.

The oldest written hummus recipe in the world is 776 years old... It was written in Aleppo, Syria in 1250 CE by a historian named Ibn al-'Adeem. Not a chef. A historian. Who also happened to document one of the most extraordinary cookbooks of the medieval period. The base of the recipe is identical to what you make today. Chickpeas, tahini, lemon, garlic, salt. That part has not changed in 776 years. What has changed is the garnish. After the hummus is spread flat on a wide plate, the 1250 CE manuscript says to drizzle it with sweet olive oil, scatter chopped parsley and pistachios across the top, dust it with Ceylon cinnamon, and finish with crushed rose buds. The manuscript also notes that the dish will look quite nice if you arrange whole chickpeas on top. A medieval Syrian historian giving you plating advice. #archaeohistories

One of the most remarkable objects in #Pompeii is a marble table support with P. Casca Longus inscribed on it. Longus was the 1st assassin to stab Julius Caesar on #IdesOfMarch (today in 44 BC). On his death Longus’ possessions were auctioned & this table was bought by a Pompeian

@ProfSteveKeen Iran has 60% enriched yellowcake, correct? Which could be loaded into missile warheads. Which could be fired on Israel if Iran is nuked. Which should make escalation to nukes unlikely, or not? What do you think @ProfSteveKeen

And the scariest long-term scenario? Israel holds nuclear weapons. No one knows the exact count. No one even has confirmed proof, though of course we know they exist. If Israel finds itself facing a genuine existential threat it cannot survive, those weapons are on the table. That is not speculation. That is the logic of a cornered state with no other option.

@Fintech03 Help me understand this. If everything is a manifestation of Brahman, why is there a thread or even a distinction between “individual” and “universal” consciousness? Isn’t what we regard as individual C just an instance of universal C?

Modern physics is just now flirting with the Zero Point Field, but ancient Sanskrit texts described this as Akasha. In the Mandukya Upanishad, consciousness is described as having a 4th state: Turiya. Ancient texts state that Turiya is the underlying thread (Sutra) that connects individual consciousness (Atman) to the universal consciousness (Brahman). Quantum Field Theory suggests that particles are just ripples in an underlying field. Ancient India said the same thing 1000s yr ago: Our thoughts are just ripples in the Chitta (universal mind-stuff).

The United States is participating in the strikes on Iran 30-35% approx, launching from far away locations, Diego Garcia, the UK and the Azores. Its bases in the Gulf have become useless. If there are any strategic gains in this war, they all go to Israel, but any Israeli strategic gain will evaporate if the US become a loser in this war. So what's in it for the US? Literally nothing. The US is losing its prestige in the Gulf, it is being squeezed economically by the war on Iran, and the only tangible strategic gain the US, as a great superpower, could have had, was to denuclearize Iran. Just before the war, this major gain was offered to the US by Iran as a concession, but the US chose to headline the war. Just before the war started, I hypothetized that the US might greenlight an Israeli war while leading from behind, as usual, I did not imagine that the US will go first, given the risks, chief among them, US credibility as a great power that must be feared and respected. The respect is gone with the US active participation in the genocide in Palestine, and now the fear of the US is gone too. The decision to headline the war on Iran was a catastrophic decision by any measure.

@nxt888 The movie The Apprentice introduced me to a personality type I didn’t know existed: the corrupt patriot. A person who is wholly self-interested, vindictive, hedonistic and greedy, and who at the same time is ultra-patriotic, which somehow forgives all of their evil.

There is something almost beautiful about how naked the corruption is now. No more speeches about sacrifice. No more solemn lies about democracy. No more fake tears about freedom. Just war for Israel, higher oil, and the president of the United States openly celebrating the profits. That is America in its purest form. A country where the poor are asked to endure inflation like patriots while the ruling class insider-trades its way through blood.
