@VegMediaWatch @newrepublic @jan_dutkiewicz It's a sad state of affairs when advocating for a kind diet is politically toxic. We are a really sick society and we are going to pay a price for it when climate change makes Texas too hot to live in. And many other states too.

In a @newrepublic article about a Democratic senatorial candidate who denied his #veganism in order to protect his campaign, reporter @jan_dutkiewicz explains why true public servants should be embracing #plantbased eating. Thank you #NewRepublic for informing your readers about the environmental and ethical implications of meat production. cc: @emilyecooke @rkearney @heathershorn @dceiver @AdrienneMahsa

I read that hit piece and thought: why is this writer so angry at a restaurant showcasing a healthy, sustainable, nonviolent way of living? I wonder if he would like to write an amends article? Maybe it should be entitled after the great Diane Warren song: Till It Happens to You, You Don't Know How It Feels!

In 2021, @nytimes restaurant critic @pete_wells wrote a mean-spirited review about a prominent #plantbased restaurant that felt more like an attack on #veganism and a defense of meat than a legitimate critique. The review undoubtedly compromised the business. Three years later, Mr. Wells switched to a plant-heavy diet for his health. Why did the #NYTimes publish such an unfair and hostile review in the first place? cc: @nikitarbk @tanyasic @emilyweinstein @farrellnyt @mikiebarb @park_madis_ell

In a @voxdotcom story about a 2,183 person taste test comparing dairy to non-dairy products, @KennyTorrella also describes the negative effects of #dairy production on the animals, the workers and the planet. Thank you #Vox for reporting on topics that most mainstream media outlets ignore at the behest of their meat and dairy advertisers. cc: @caitlindewey @jcameronpeters @PaigeBlank

In an in-depth investigation about the lives of calves born into the dairy industry, @voxdotcom reporter @mbolotnikova exposes systemic abuses that are hidden from the public. Torn away from their mothers at birth, the newborns are intensively confined for months in small crates and stripped of everything but the nourishment that transforms them into commodities. Thank you #Vox for pulling back the curtain on these medieval deprivation chambers. cc: @sethmaxon @caitlindewey @jcameronpeters @PaigeBlank

It's all very abstract until you look at one. Just one. And imagine what she's going through after 7 years in this cage. This is why we had to break them out.

In news stories about slaughterhouse strikes, media outlets invariably report on all of the stakeholders except the cows. This @WSJ article mentions the workers, their families, the union, the customers, the marketplace and the "processing plant" (slaughterhouse) - everyone but the individuals who are killed. @PatThomas1318 - please consider including the real slaughterhouse victims in your agriculture and food business coverage. cc: @emmatuckerWSJ @DanColarusso13

In a @guardian op-ed, Deirdra Barr argues that, if lawmakers are going to prohibit #plantbased food companies from using "meat" on their labels, then they should require meat companies to describe their products with the same level of accuracy. "Beef = cow muscle," for instance. She also asserts that animal ag should be prohibited from humane washing their products with images of "red barns, green fields and smiling animals." Thank you #Guardian for telling your readers the truth about animal agriculture. cc: @KathViner @KiraCochrane

Please help #VegMediaWatch call out anti-vegan bias and meat industry propaganda in the mainstream media by taking action here: vegmediawatch.org/washington-pos… 1. In response to high beef prices, the Washington Post calls for increased beef imports instead of encouraging a shift to #plantbased alternatives. 2. The Atlantic makes no mention of #animalcruelty in an otherwise comprehensive story about dairy production. 3. Allure Magazine reports that "nobody wants to be #vegan anymore."

@VegMediaWatch @Allure_magazine This is a classic hit piece that looks like it was written by meat industry PR? Was it? Why is @Allure_magazine shilling for the meat industry? Why didn't Elizabeth Gulino report on the tons of successful vegan products at EXPO WEST?

This @Allure_magazine article demonstrates anti-vegan bias. The clickbait headline ("Vegan beauty" is "struggling to survive") contradicts information in the story ("market is still growing.") And the first sentence in the article ("nobody wants to be vegan anymore") is untrue. Having just attended the 2026 Natural Products Expo where she saw “vegan” and “plant-based” signage "as far as the eye could see," UnChainedTV founder Jane Velez-Mitchell (@JVM) wrote the following article in response: bit.ly/4sf7oZn While some #vegan businesses are struggling, that’s a reflection of the broader economy. cc: @j_cruel @_sarahdipity_
