She kept hearing the same thing. People back home couldn’t get married because they couldn’t find a home. So Mariam Kamara built one. Six family units on the same footprint a single compound house would occupy. Compressed earth blocks pressed from local clay and sand. Walls 30 centimetres thick. No air conditioning needed, just a fan on the hottest days in one of the hottest cities on earth. Niamey 2000 didn’t reject modernity. It questioned whose version of modernity we’ve been building. Heartbreaking News 💔 Cameroonian artiste, TikToker, comedian, and former Biggy237 contestant, Yeri Benz, has reportedly passed away after a prolonged illness. Africa’s most honest architecture is increasingly coming from its women. Nzinga B. Mboup grew up between Mozambique, Cameroon, South Africa and Senegal. She saw what colonial urbanism did to African cities. Then she decided to build differently. Her practice Worofila works with compressed earth bricks, typha plant fiber, and self-supporting earthen vaults, materials that have kept people cool in West Africa for centuries. In Dakar, where concrete dominates because it’s cheap and politically convenient, that is a radical act. She puts it plainly: “Why did we ever stop building with earth?” Nobody has a good answer. I no go argue me this topic again. Maybe u shld do some background ground research before concludx.mbole n mboko have existed before becoming popular genres coz of evolution. And @JoviLeMonstre did that with mboko, which is now a subgenre in our hiphop n urban music.
