During last week's @CMNDePaul Night, we honored adjunct professor and legendary Chicago sportswriter, Fred Mitchell. Fred spent more than 41 years at the Chicago Tribune, where he made history as its first African American sportswriter and the only reporter to cover the Chicago Bulls, Chicago Cubs, and Chicago Bears as a primary beat writer.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Rev. Jesse Jackson. While renowned as a civil rights activist, presidential candidate and community servant, he was a tremendous all-around athlete in college and we had many conversations about sports in Chicago over the years. Rest in Peace

Happy birthday to former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Ken Anderson from Augustana College. Ken was a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame this year. I was honored to join him in the Ohio Sports Hall of Fame last year.
