@nonregemesse the corps don't want risk this happened to Hayao Miyazaki too, he wanted to make a film but was turned down even though he already directed one before so he decided to make a manga first when the manga was proven to be a success, the corps were willing to back the adaptation

It’s really bad that, instead of creating new stories or even just adapting a different books, we’re getting two new LOTR films and a new Harry Potter tv show and the reason is just that the film adaptations of them did well. They’re not being made because they’re based on successful books but rather because the previous adaptations mean it’s a sure thing.
