Today, Superintendent Lindel Fields visited Mannsville to survey storm damage and learn about needed repairs for safe return to the classroom at the local K–8 school that serves about 60 students. We’re grateful for the local leaders and educators stepping up to support these students and families as the community works to recover.

After listening to Senate floor debate this morning, my hope for each of us is that we will find someone who loves us as much as Oklahoma Democrats love ensuring 1st graders have access to hardcore pornography. One of my Democrat colleagues even said that he rarely rises in debate, but felt particularly compelled to debate against this bill. He then proceeded to compare those of us who do NOT want pornography in school libraries to Nazis. Senate rules prohibit the reading of the explicit content in many of these books on the Senate floor. Yet Democrats are obsessed with ensuring school children have access to them. Is there anyone who can tell me why Democrat politicians are like this?

Today, my Republican colleague, Rep. Chris Banning, passed OK HB 2978 off the House floor. This bill seeks to ban sexualized and obscene materials from Oklahoma school libraries. I have personally found these books in the libraries of schools where I have worked in Oklahoma. As a former teacher and parental rights advocate, it was my honor to debate in favor of this excellent piece of legislation that protects children and honors parental authority.
