The way I understand it, the Pacers were willing to go into the tax to keep Myles. They just weren’t going to go THAT deep into the tax, which starts to get punitive from a team building standpoint.

It seems to me that as long as the Pacers are competing for titles in two straight years, ownership should go into the tax in order to maintain and improve this team. This is the window of opportunity. All chips in.
