@luvlithando Other Iranian missions, such as those in Kuwait, Ethiopia, or Hong Kong, appear to maintain a standard, informational presence without this level of provocative or sarcastic messaging. There are two more Embassies using same approach. Crazy times.

Do Iranian Embassies in other countries also tweet like the one in SA?

please get a library card even if you won’t use it because cities will look at library statistics and use that to decide to keep libraries open and properly funded

Remember Langa. On the 25th anniversary of the Sharpeville Massacre, residents at Langa township in Kariega were shot while on their way to a funeral at the neighbouring KwaNobuhle township. 35 people were murdered and 27 were injured. This photograph depicts the funeral which took place on 13 April 1985. Mourners couldn’t even bury their dead in peace as the police carried out attacks. 📸: United Nations

The criticism of BEE that it benefits a few conveniently ignores the intrinsic pyramid structure of capitalism. BEE was never a new system it was assimilating into an existing economic system. Beyond the shareholding component, the immense value of enterprise development, employment equity has benefited many black people who would have otherwise been neglected by an economic system designed to do exactly that. The latest wave of the biggest beneficiaries of BEE criticizing the system seems a little bit like kicking away the ladder. The refinement needed is a more steadfast support from the state and more asserted support of the black smme sector.
