Why can’t govt set up designated places, high end bars to drink in Rishikesh, close to river bank. It’s a long river. If people in Rishikesh let their sewage and local nalas open in the river, why can’t people drink. रिस्पना का दर्दनाक सच... देवभूमि उत्तराखंड, जहां नदियों को देवतुल्य मानकर पूजा जाता है, वहीं राज्य की राजधानी देहरादून में रिस्पना नदी की हालत बेहद चिंताजनक हो चुकी है। मोथरोवाला क्षेत्र के पास स्थापित सीवेज ट्रीटमेंट प्लांट (STP) से निकल रहा “ट्रीटेड” पानी हकीकत में जहरीला झाग और बदबूदार गंदगी बनकर सीधे नदी में गिर रहा है। नदी के किनारे फैला मोटा जहरीला फोम और सड़े सीवर जैसी दुर्गंध साफ तौर पर अधूरे या बायपास ट्रीटमेंट की पोल खोल रही है। सरकार द्वारा करोड़ों रुपये खर्च कर बनाए गए ये प्लांट नदी को बचाने के बजाय उसे और बीमार कर रहे हैं। अगर यही स्थिति बनी रही तो प्रदूषण कम होने के बजाय लगातार बढ़ता जाएगा। यह सवाल उठता है कि आखिर इन STP का संचालन और निगरानी किसके जिम्मे है? राज्य सरकार और प्रदूषण नियंत्रण बोर्ड की भूमिका इस पूरे मामले में संदेह के घेरे में है। क्या केवल कागजों में सफाई दिखाकर असलियत को नजरअंदाज किया जा रहा है? रिस्पना जैसी महत्वपूर्ण नदी का यह हाल न केवल पर्यावरण के लिए खतरा है, बल्कि लोगों के स्वास्थ्य के लिए भी गंभीर जोखिम है। नदी का पानी अब न तो उपयोग योग्य रहा और न ही इसके आसपास का वातावरण सुरक्षित। यदि समय रहते राज्य सरकार और संबंधित विभागों ने सख्त कदम नहीं उठाए, तो आने वाले कुछ वर्षों में यह नदी पूरी तरह समाप्त हो सकती है। देवभूमि की पहचान रही नदियां यूं ही दम तोड़ती रहीं, तो यह केवल पर्यावरणीय संकट नहीं बल्कि हमारी आस्था और अस्तित्व पर भी बड़ा सवाल होगा। अब जरूरत है ठोस कार्रवाई की, न कि केवल योजनाओं और दावों की।
