As a veteran and former police officer, this statement is completely false. Many of those veterans have never been cops. They don't have a comparison sample to offer, just one side of the spectrum, which is totally honorable by the way. They've just never read through statutory or case law, let alone weighed the legality while attempting to make quick decisions where the goal is to restore order without violating someone's constitutional rights.
