I'm in my feels a bit tonight... Long Post I had a parent crying today. I'm not sure why she felt compelled to come to me, but she did, and I'm glad. She has no money, utilities are way past due, and she had no idea where their next meal was going to come from. I gave her what little bit of cash I had and told her not to worry. Her kids would not be hungry. After school, I went to the store. I bought a few things of meat, sides, and a few other staples. I also got her a gift card so she could go pick up a few other things. I didn't have the money to catch up her utilities, but I could make sure they were fed. You see, I was that mom several years ago. I maxed out credit cards, skipped paying this bill, or that bill to make sure rent was paid and my kids could eat. I cried every day, wondering if I was going to come home with no water or lights or waiting for the repo man to come get my car. I felt absolutely worthless as a parent and a person. Today, I saw myself in her. When her little girl saw the food she was so excited. Her mom said I was an angel sent to help them. I'm definitely not an angel, but someone who can relate. I know it's not much, and I wish I had the money to help with her utilities. But at least I could lift a bit of her burden and be a shoulder for her to cry on. Never take life for granted. Help who you can when you can. Today, you could be someone's angel without even knowing. Please excuse me while I go cry for a minute.
