TL;DR: We brought the art styles of VCT and VALORANT together for the first time in an esports cinematic! If you've been with us for a while on VCT, you would know that almost all of our cinematics or event themes build upon the foundation of what the VCT is about, but with a totally unique art expression for each event. We do this because we want to make sure every event is as memorable as can be... and because certain creatives ( me ) really love exploring art styles that fit the thematic of each event. Sometimes the end result is exactly where we hoped it would lead, other times our partners take us to new identities that we've only ever dreamed about. It's pretty sick. But there's one art style we had yet to bring to esports... The VALORANT cinematic style. We felt that with our event thematic of Thrill Unleashed, a thematic meant to embody the insane clutch moments of action within VALORANT, that this was the perfect style to pair with esports for Masters Shanghai. It wasn't easy by any means, and we had a few stumbles along the way. But at the end of the road we found our footing, and brought the VALORANT cinematic style together with the expressive design language and bespoke art style we expect of the VCT. Big thanks to the whole team on this one - @Katealyst as my co-conspirator and strats fact checker, @kumayalol, @NotJoeElliott, our producer and art director who don't have twitters, and the rest of the VALORANT team for their many contributions... and of course @massiveassembly for actually making the film!
