Amount of items you are allowed to rent is tied to your level of membership. This is going to be rolled out before Headless Horseman returns, because that will be rentable too.

TL;DR, another botched release by Roblox. The item in question: roblox.com/bundles/387351… It was posted TODAY, April 6th. This means the head meets Roblox's new FAR STRICTER validation rules. The intention behind the "your item has reduced visibility" feature is to REDUCE THE REFUNDS Roblox is going to be forced to issue when they enact the great head purge this June - the deletion of all non-updated heads. By limiting visibility now, they're cutting down on item sales that will be paid out to creators before the purge. FYI, this includes ALL versions of a faceless head. Every single one will be deleted, because with the new validation rules it is impossible to make a faceless head. That is the primary target of this feature and the displayed message. However, this faulty implementation is affecting heads created with the strict validation rules. Are you telling me that among whoever worked on this feature, nobody thought to add a statement which excludes heads posted AFTER the validation update? This is getting ridiculous.

This was already pointed out by @4Lulzy but I could not stop myself from saying something. Roblox used the CLASSIC VERSION of Epic Face in this promotional video (along with many corporateslop metaverse avatars absolutely nobody uses) because they failed at its dynamic conversion. The absolute irony of this situation. It's like they're purposely rubbing it in. The Roblox I used to know and love is long dead, possessed by a distorted and hollow shell of its former self, puppeteerd by exploitative investors who have no soul. Going public was the worst thing Roblox ever did.

There are approximately 600 classic faces which are Roblox owned, and need to be converted. Evidently the creators are on their own, so their non-converted faces will simply be deleted. Roblox themselves needed to convert 600. I would say a competent artist should be able to convert 2 faces in a day We'll lowball it and say 8/week per 1 employee With ONE employee doing this, it would take 75 weeks. With TWO employees, it takes 37.5 weeks. THREE employees, 25 weeks. See how fast the time to completion decreased? This would be a temporary position which requires a small team. Most likely, 4 people on temporary reassignment. 4 employees = 18.75 weeks. The workflow would be even faster if one person does geometry, one person does bones, one person does weight painting, and one person does animating. They do the same task over and over again, not a whole conversion. This is the math behind what I'm saying, hope this helps.

Finally, definitive proof that Roblox used AI for their heads. Thank you for bringing attention to this. I'd like to know why Roblox's own employees resorted to AI for the face conversions? Are they incapable of doing this work themselves? Not that it should be particularly difficult for a multibillion dollar company to find and hire competent people. The failed dynamic conversions have sent ripple effects through Roblox like I have never seen before. Now I'm hearing talk about someone launching a lawsuit over the botched conversions. REMINDER: Roblox is forcing creators of 2D static heads to update all of their heads to be dynamic, or have the item taken off sale. There are many creators that face losing significant income, or all of their income over this. Roblox themselves cannot properly do the work they are forcing creators to do. Let that sink in. What the hell is going on at this company?

I have a private toolchain that lets me load Roblox's dynamic heads into Blender, and yeah... they definitely used the Avatar Setup tool for a lot of these. The weight-painting and joint names seem very... automated.

Is it misinformation when it comes from Roblox themselves? Tell me you didn't read the post without telling me you didn't read the post. FYI I didn't say they're selling it (yet), but that the 2D face -> dynamic head update was to make harvesting facial data easier. Which is true.

Did I not JUST SAY THIS the other day? I said the real reason behind the head conversion was because they want facial data which they can't get if everyone uses 2D faces. Everything we do on Roblox is harvested as data. Here you go, it's Roblox themselves saying it. x.com/Maxxell/status… The push for ID verification is so there is confirmation that the data is legitimate, instead of garbage data generated by bots. If you think that's too farfetched to happen in <6 years, remind yourself what the world looked like in 2019 compared to 2025. As the real world deteriorates, more people will be pushed into online spaces because the real world is simply too unaffordable and bleak. The elites have simply taken notice that Roblox is the most popular and well equipped "metaverse" platform and are pulling the strings behind closed doors to make this happen via investors. Basically, most of the activity on the internet is bots, which means all the data collected by corps like Meta is functionally garbage data, no good for advertising or feeding AI models. This is why there is such a push for ID verification across the internet right now, Meta is lobbying lawmakers to collect ID on internet platforms to ensure the collected data is real. This is absolutely intentional to push people to use dynamic heads, you are correct. What's funny too is that none of these accessories are actually compatible with the Roblox dynamic heads now, because the positioning of the head is off - they probably broke well over 100,000 accessories by screwing up the head position in ALL of their conversions. "just use accessory adjustment" Or Roblox staff could pay attention to what they're working on, there's a thought. Regardless, the true reason of this change is to push people to use dynamic heads, and the true reason behind the forcing of dynamic heads is to harvest data from their facial tracking software. It always comes back to DATA, one way or the other. Roblox just put a 40 robux barrier between "dynamic head" and "full face mask to hide dynamic head". You will use the dynamic head and face tracking, and you will be happy.

These changes are being made so Roblox has an easier time harvesting facial data from the face tracking system in dynamic heads. This sloptech, as I call it, was rejected by players on launch. Not great for Roblox who wants to harvest that data. So they forced it, and now created a 40 robux barrier between a dynamic head and a "face covering". Not much robux cost to you or I, but the average person is going to opt for a dynamic head now purely on cost basis.

so in the past week, we've seen: • dynamic faces being pushed suddenly w/ very poor (probably AI) made replacements of heads tanking a ton of limited faces to hold no value, pushing people to buy copied versions of limiteds instead because somehow those look better • head positioning is being moved up randomly with no communication on whether it is a bug or intentional, but in the process, it is breaking all head accessories, with no ability to adjust or alter the item • a new categorization for "full heads" aka masks/objects that cover heads, to penalize artists who make static heads by having them priced ridiculously high so no one will buy them and be forced to default to dynamic this is really disappointing, and it feels like changes are being made for the sake of being made to spark community outrage & feels very ignorant to those who create on the platform 💔
