@MaAlfaidi @ArcSuellen @Vascular_Prot So from a sample perspective, the platelets in this study are from the *exact* time of infarct, rather than later on. It was technically (and physically/emotionally!) pretty difficult to do, but @BartsHospital was incredibly supportive.

@atvbahajournals @Vascular_Prot @cardiacjoshi Elevated S100A8/A9 levels reflect neutrophil activation. Platelets get pre-activated by neutrophil activation, leading to a "platelet exhaustion phenomenon" during ex vivo testing. This would explain challenges with using aggregometry to guide antiplatelet therapy in acute MI.
