Trying to determine the current set of "high confidence" miRNAs in miRBase v22. But website and FTP download does not match for Human. There are 505 HC stem-loops on the website and 658 in the HC file of the FTP server... Anyone knows why? @mirbase

@genetic_duck Ah yes. Apologies. We’re temporarily not rebuilding miRNA families, partly because they were not very good. We’re working on a better way.

@mirbase very grateful for your efforts. But, the miRNA family classification file(miFam.dat) is invalid. Please make check the URL is correct. Thanks

At last, miRBase release 22 is out. mirbase.org. Lots of new sequences, and a promise to be more timely.

The miRBase website is again experiencing problems. We apologise for the unacceptable frequency of problems over the last month or so, and are working hard to get back to normal service.

In other news: the long-overdue miRBase release 22 is finally coming. Nearly 10000 new miRNAs, mostly in species not previously represented.
