Tonight, I’m thinking about Justice Murray Sinclair and of the times that I was lucky enough to hear him speak about his work with the TRC. This moment stands out for me. It’s his answer when he was asked, “Why can’t you just get over it?”

I went to Winnipeg to see Murray Sinclair in assisted living earlier this year. There, he conducted his final interview. We also went to Selkirk and he showed me where he grew up. It was the culmination of a decade of trust building. Story here: theglobeandmail.com/politics/artic… #cdnpoli

A vaccine has essentially eliminated a dreadful form of cancer. Extraordinary.

@nilikm The Ford government has stopped providing free rapid test kits at pharmacies and stores as of June. The only ones left in stores are all now are expired. Other provincial and state governments still provide free tests, but not Ontario.

A bit of personal news. I informed my Sportsnet.ca editors a while ago that the time had come to step back from day-to-day coverage of the Senators. I've been in this business for 44 years -- delirious fun -- and wanted to give an opportunity to a young reporter.

Covid cases rising as free rapid tests for Covid disappear or expire in Ottawa. The only tests left at the few pharmacies with supplies expire on Sept 21, 2024. The government cancelled the program in June according to this story by @egpayne ottawacitizen.com/news/local-new…

My Dad is dead. He died suddenly at home, alone, whilst I was on holiday. 18 months after Mum died. 12 months after my breast cancer came back My heart is broken. Again. I wasn’t ready for him to leave me so soon. Even though I have a wonderful brother, husband and in-laws. I feel desperately alone. I hadn’t got round to talking to Dad about his funeral plans. The songs he’d want me to play. The stories I’d yet to hear. Please don’t leave it until it’s too late.
