activities are turned into spectacles and fitness requires extra effort. Heck, you can't randomly ride a bicycle safely from your house to the grocery store in some places in Lagos. 😭 And there's also the confusion of weight loss with fitness.

Places like Lagos are not walkable, the entire place is so terribly designed you just want to hop in an Uber every damn time. No parks, physical activities cannot be randomly planned. Just so many things mehn. Everything is engineered in a way that regular fitness related...

I think one of the contributors to Nigerians' extreme approach towards fitness is our lack of a properly functioning society. Our environment is not designed to incorporate movement and regular fun activities into our daily lives. Dancing classes cost a fortune, sports too.

I've always wondered if Lagosians knew that open gutters are not normal. Everyone doesn't seem to mind. 😭 It makes me so uncomfortable and creeps me out so much. What exactly would it take to properly cover up gutters??? It's a health hazard amongst other things.

Meanwhile, there was another guy I spoke to at the park who owned a relaxation centre about creating a recycling bin that was receptive and respectful about it. Even when he disagreed with certain things. It shouldn't be that hard to get you to care about your environment.

Someone will clean it up? The cleaners employed by Lagos State are not even paid enough for you people to give them that kind of responsibility. It is also not sustainable. They are there only in the morning, when it rains during the day everything goes into the gutters.

..woman telling him to clean up his mess. We dropped the bottle back in his car. Everyone was then telling me cleaners are available to clean up the mess and I was so confused. Does that give us the licence to litter the entire place? How is that a defence from littering?

I was at Muri Okunola park for an event yesterday and this guy dropped a bottle from a car, I initially mentioned it and he said he'd pick it up, he didn't. I approached him nicely to pick it up because obviously, it is unacceptable. Baba got offended and started shouting at me.

If you wouldn't mindlessly litter your home, then don't do it in public. Employed cleaners are not meant to clean up after you. You have a social responsibility to trash your waste properly. If there's no trash can around, take it home with you. It's basic human decency.

enough for people to give them that responsibility. They are not even there all the time, when it rains, everything goes in the gutters, blocking them. If we're going by that logic, then people that have cleaners should litter their homes and not use bins as it would be cleaned.

Instead of providing proper amenities for a community obviously in need, they are thrown out instead.

This is terrible on so many fronts. Climate-wise and basic human decency. Leave the beach alone ffs. Leave people's homes alone. Very soon, developers would start building luxury homes on water, with the way they are going. I

@Mochievous It's infuriating. Can they just freaking let things be. So this was why they displaced locals from their homes. It's so sickening.
