Update - The moderation team confirmed to me that the ban was issued due to "profanity." So using swear words in any capacity is against their TOS. Not something that I agree with, especially considering characters in this rated M game curse a lot, but at least they responded.

@PaulLivo I've been playing Gears since the beginning. While I agree 5 strayed too far from the formula, I believe Gears 4 was really good from a PvP standpoint.

I gatekeep Gears because I'm a Gears fan I gatekeep Gears because I believe Gears has certain core mechanics that can't be changed, because changing them turns Gears into a game that is no longer Gears. Non core mechanics can be changed / added / removed I gatekeep Gears because I've closely watched community feedback and response for 9 years and I believe I know what is and is not popular, I've watched what brings players back and what pushes them away I gatekeep Gears because I've learned that a lot of the people who oppose the "Gears formula" tend to not play Gears even when they get what they ask for I gatekeep Gears because I want to see it successful as a Gears game, not changed into something entirely different just for impressive launch numbers I gatekeep Gears, and if what I was saying was so wrong then it wouldn't resonate with anyone else so there shouldn't be any concern about my opinion if I'm alone in an echo chamber that nobody agreed with I gatekeep Gears because I believe games should be made for people who want to play them, not for people who don't I gatekeep Gears because I see people understandably bored of the current formula of Gears 4 and 5, but I recognise that those games themselves were unpopular specifically because those games strayed too far away from "Gears" in order to appeal to unskilled players.
